I haven't gotten around to registering Koda with the AKC.  I can't decide on a formal name.

Her parents are named Wildrose Shotgun and Outback Shelly.  The grandparents are named Rincon Slick Runner, Wildrose Go Getum Gretchen, Rico Suave's Big Bird Hunt, and Denny's Outback Maggie.  Her great grandparents are named Rincon's Slick Willy, HK's Rainbow Runner, Wildrose Smokin' Moose, Wildrose First Lady, Dr N's C J, Candy Brandy Wine, Hedge Rise Bandit, and Rockin Ruby.

Any suggestions?

Typically when registering you use the name of the kennel where you got your dog and then whatever name you want. Some litters have themes where you follow the theme in naming. That said, if your breeder didn't stipulate any naming conventions, I would name Koda whatever you wanted to for a registered name. I know my breeder isn't really picky for their dogs sold as pets. The dogs they sell as show quality they want them to carry the kennel name and prefer they follow the theme as well.

I don't believe they have a kennel name, and I'm not sure about the names of her litter mates. I want to use part of the names of her elders, but it's so hard to decide.

Well, you could use a combination of the kennel names of the sire and dam...as an example..Carrillo's Outback Wildrose, or Carrillo's Shotgun Koda...something like that. I would be unlikely to use either of the kennel names of the sire and dam as the first word, as most folks do not want their kennel name used unless they are actually the breeder of a litter....Rincon is an Arizona kennel, Charlie Rose's is Wildrose, etc. Check with the breeder to see if they had a theme and if not, then it sounds as if you can do what you'd like.

Best wishes,

I have to come up with one for Xara too. Usually I'm good at them, but hers has me stumped!
Good luck coming up with one for your Koda
