As a puppy don't be affraid to over feed a tad.  Better to be a littel pudgy than under nutritioned.

My 2 year old mule at 65lbs eats 2.5 cups 2 times daily and is still skinnnnnnnney!  Buddy has a 70lb dog that eats 1.5 daily and its fat!   Each dog is diffy!

Quantity varies from food to food and dog to dog. What do you feed him? There should be a feeding guide on the bag/tin, it's not always acurate (Baira needs more) but it's a good place to start.

It seemed on another thread that the more adult dogs were eating between 3 cups to 4 cups total a day (so divided by however many feedings)....then some of those were also given chicken rice and veggies on top of the kibble so they could be eating up to 5 cups a day...

Puppies need a lot of food to give them what they need to grow....the best is to go by what your food bag says because that is based on the type of food you are feeding...

P.S.
My dogs always act like they are hungry so that isn't really a good indication of how much they need to eat...

Luke is almost a year now and he eats 4 to 4 1/2 cups a day (and about 3 of his ribs STILL show). I'm hoping when we make this switch to Adult food that he'll put on some weight. He's about 63lbs and still looks like he doesn't eat lol.

You might want to up his food by about a 1/4 to a 1/2 cup. Sometimes it only takes a little more to get them to put on weight. I go by how mine look using the two ribs rule of thumb, two ribs show good, more ribs up the food a bit, less ribs reduce the ribs a tad. The amount I feed also varies by season and level of activity. I usually have to up the food in winter and reduce in the heat of summer. I have good look with the higher protein and higher fat foods. All that said, mine are always hungry and if I used that as a gauge mine would be over eating.

Thanks TB. That's kinda what we've been doing. I started giving him an extra quarter each time when I noticed it. I'll just have to up it to a half. I'm sure he won't mind.  Speaking of foods, I've got a question for the grain free thread too ...

Tessa gets 3 cups of kibble/canned mix a day, divided into two meals. Sometimes I feed a third smaller meal at noon if she seems too thin or if she's having more active days. I fed the same amounts when she was a puppy, but it was puppy food and she was smaller then.

As keanmu said, it really varies depending on food and more so on the individual dog.

It does depend on the food and individual dog. Mine get between 2-3 cups per day, less in winter as they aren't as active. As others have said they are always hungry!

My 44# female eats 2 cups, twice a day. She was a little thin, so I added 1/3 cup of ground beef / day for about 3 weeks. Once she started looking good, I dropped the beef and she is holding her weight fine now. She runs a lot of miles in a week though. I road her about 8 miles every third day on top of her daily walks.
