I'm a little worried about Hogan ( probably being over paranoid) - he still isn't really keen on his food, he eats much more now but still doesn't finish all his meals.

Twice a day he has weetabix/biscuits/warm goats milk and the other two he has biscuits/warm water.

Today as I was stroking him, he felt to me to be a bit ribby!

On monday at the vets he weighed 7.3kg, today I weighed him and he was 7.7kg (so 4 days older.) I also think he's grown.

Is this a reasonable weight gain for the time?

Should I worry about his not finishing his meals? Or should I supplement the other two meals with goats milk even though I was hoping to wean him off?

I would appreciate your opinions please

Is he eating any kibble? I read that Weetabix has wheat, which is not great for dogs. We never gave Koda any milk once we got her. In the beginning, I wet the kibble with water. Koda was not keen on eating until I switched her to Innova puppy. I previously tried Nutro natural choice large breed, Nutro natural choice large breed lamb and rice, and Nutro ultra puppy, the last one made her vomit and gave her liquid diarrhea. I was over worried that she wouldn't eat, since she was on the skinny side. I used the 20 minute rule of thumb, and she would definitely eat the next meal, but I think the quality of food makes a difference.

Both of my pups have been like that. I just pour a little bit of water on their food and they ate it right up.

I would switch to 3 times a day and use the goat's milk or water on the kibble to wet it down. Four times a day for a 9 week old is allot of food which probably why he picks at some meals. He will have growing spurts where his looks skinny and other times where he looks chubby. As long as his backbone, hip bones, and more than a couple of ribs aren't showing he is probably fine. If you need to add a little protein try yogurt. You can also get some canned puppy food and mix it in with your kibble. If he really turns his nose up to the kibble, I would try a different kibble, but first cut back on the number of times you feed him and see if that helps.

Thanks! I will try to add a picture later so you guys can see. He is well covered - I think I'm being paranoid.

I will try cutting down to three meals and see if he gets more appetite.

Once again, thanks!

Queen (4 mo.) dropped weight during enteritis, but she is putting it on now. I feed three times per day. I am getting her off Diamond puppy food and on to Purina because vet recommended it. good luck

We changed foods shortly after we got Cooper because he didn't seem keen on the one that he had been on. Truthfully, I think he wasn't a great eater in the beginning simply because he was getting used to a new household and routine. We used to have to hand feed him or bring the bowl to him and sit with him while he ate to keep him interested in his meal. After 1-2 weeks at home with us he gained normal, healthy eating habits. Hogan might just be getting comfortable in his new home before he gets his apetite back.
