When I first got the pup I noticed Buddy was not sure what to do when Chelse, which is the name I think were going with, would get to rough with the puppy teeth, Buddy would run and get out of harms way or sometimes get to pyysically rough thinking she's can take it.  After a yelp from the pup that scared Buddy, the last couple of days when he wants to put her in her place he turns his head and neck to the side and kinda forces or pins the pup to the ground just for a second or 2.    Not sure if thats how dogs show there dominants but I thought it was pretty neat

Buddy is doing exactly what an adult should do to show the puppy her behavior is out of line. Let him continue to teach her what not to do- too often people interfere with what's supposed to happen.

Mine either pin pups to the ground with a mouth to the pup's neck or step them down to the ground with their front feet - and you're right, it's fun to watch how the pack works

Desert Rose is absolutely right. Belle uses the mouth pin method with pups and Halo pinned with the feet. It is so cool to watch pack dynamics. Belle was very gentle when both Halo and Ringo were small, but at about 1 yr for Halo and about 6 months for Ringo, she decided it was time to get her point across and did the whole growl and snap thing when they got too rough. She only did it once with both and now all it takes is the look from her and they straighten out. Or if they are naughty, she comes and tells me about it so I can intervene.

Good to know, I can use all the help keeping that little girl in line, Buddy also started using the front foot method to pin her.

I have noticed Blitz using this method too...I am just standing back and letting them work it out...There I times where I think it might get too rough but so far they know when to back down to each other and neither has gotten hurt.

You absolutely should let the dogs work it out. Unless someone is bleeding profusely, leave them alone.

Sniper used to just pin Xara when she was crossing the boundary, now that he's older he is a bit more rough about it. She has learned to read him pretty good now. I don't interfere, they work it out well. Sniper can explode sometimes with little to no warning so sometimes Xara is taken a bit unaware.
