First let me say: A GSP's bark is extremely LOUD inside the house.

I was in the kitchen today and Xara all of a sudden started barking like crazy. Not a "stranger!" bark, just this extremely loud, very annoying deep, yet shrill bark. It went right through you.

I went out to see what in the world was happening and I see her laying on the couch with Dave's shoe next to her. Assuming she was barking at Sniper to leave her new toy alone, I walked over to take the shoe off her and correct her for having it. The only problem was,,,it was attached to her!

Evidently in the course of playing with the shoe when my back was turned, it somehow got hooked on her collar and she couldn't get rid of the shoe that was now following her around  She'd move, it would move and so on. She wasn't scared of it, she was very highly ticked off that it wouldn't leave her alone LMAO!!!!

So she barked at it, I supposed to tell it to back off. Of course, that didn't work and I ended up having to untangle the shoe from her collar............after I could see again due to the tears streaming down my face from laughing so hard!

So funny! I know how the behind your back stuff goes so I can totally picture her playing with shoe without your knowledge!

haha i swear they are twins! the same thing happened to dieter today but it was with an empty plastic plant hanger thing. it got caught on his collar and as he tried to run away from it it continued to drag behind him. it made alot of noise as he dragged it and kind of scared him until i could calm him down and remove it.

I wonder if that will cure her from chewing on your shoes? Kind of like having a dead chicken tied around the neck to cure chicken killing. (disclaimer: I've never tried it or know anyone who has.)

LOL! Oh poor Xara!
We had a similar incident this past weekend with Murphy :)
Excpet his was the "something isn't right" deep growl followed by barking...
Our little guy Thor was diagnosed with a staph infection and was given an e-collar to wear when we weren't around to supervise him to ensure he wouldn't lick or scratch at his sores on his rump. As we were preparing to leave the house I put the collar on him and left him sitting on the couch. Apparently Murphy didn't notice all this, and upon seeing this white fluffy "lampshade" sitting in his living room, took great offense and all the hair on his back went up and he immediately started growling at poor dejected Thor. Then barking at him. In between laughing so hard I could barely breathe.. I had to take Thor off the couch and bring him to Murf's level so he could sniff him out and see that it was no "alien intruder" . One good sniff calmed him down but boy oh boy was he upset! :D
Silly dogs!

Murfsma I know what you mean. When I had my cocker neutered he had the cone collar and when I came in the house with him Sienna attacked him! She was so freaked by that thing on his head she dove on him.
I had to take it off, show her the collar and show her it was Louie under it before I could trust her not to go after him again with it on!
