I thought Bean was part cat when she came to live with us...At 18 months she was very independent, not a snuggly people clingy  GSP. I walk her almost everyday, for two hours, after that she would just sit at the window seat and or go outside.  It was rare that she would get on our bed, then as if she were going to get scolded, she'd jump off & get on her own bed. I really missed and wanted that closeness. She acted like a cat more than a dog  . Gradually she began to "warm up" to us, it took months, January we will have had her a year already.

WELL FOLKS.....be careful what you wish for....These days she sleeps in our bed, hogs the covers, snores, stands up in the middle of the night, then PLOPS on me. If hubby gets up to let her out during the night, she tries to beat him back to the bed & claim his spot. Now her new clingy trick is to get in my recliner with me, she hears that lever extend the foot portion & she's on my lap................YEP  I'm a HAPPY CAMPER, selfishly I like the attention...but mostly I am so greatful she's happy...clearly her first 18 months were not so good....I was afraid she would remain distant and fearful, but she really has made a ton of progress. Just an update !

Thats' awesome! I remember when Winston started really bonding..thankfully it only took a few months...so we had lots of good times together. Glad to hear you are now sharing those moments with your girl, hope you have a lot of them for years to come!!

That's great news. Now you have the common GSP Shadow! You go to the bathroom and there it is, go in the kitchen there it is. You'll get used to it! Ha Ha Mine drive me nuts sometimes but it is nice to feel their love and devotion.

So happy Bean has turned into a lover GSP girl for you even though it took months for her to warm up . Funny how some GSPs just lick your face, lay their heads on your lap the moment you meet them, while other GSPs take time to truely get to know you before they warm up. Renee, you can be very proud of the progress you have made with Bean. It is a miracle!!!!
