I think I am going to get some material this weekend and try to make a new big bed to go in front of the fire place in the family room.

I love the dog beds. I've made a few of the fleece blankets, and they are very easy to make. I'll have t make a few these beds for my boys. Also, I'm going to try the fleece knotted toys.

I did get a sore finger from cutting with the scissors, LOL! Mine fits the cage perfect and Donner loves it he kept going into his cage to fluff it up!

I was thinking of ways to wash these and I have washed throw pillows in the washing machine and then hung them up outside on a summer day to dry. If they get bad you could untie a few knots pull out the stuffing, retie and wash and dry in the machines and get new stuffing, untie a few, restuff and retie!

So here is the one I made for my living room.  Halo is modeling the new bed, but it is big enough for two shorthairs.

I also made a rectangle one that had upland bird scenes on one side and solid on the underside, but it is a little small. It was my first experiment. Ringo loves it though and has been dragging it from room to room with him.

I made 2 beds yesterday afternoon. I went to the fabric store which was having their president's day sale, so got fabric for $3.99 per yard. The hardest part was picking out the fabric. Gator's fabric was a no-brainer, they had a blue and orange check fabric, the colors of his namesake, the Univ. of Florida Gators. For Kaiser, I chose a southwestern print. I used an old quilt, which I cut up for the stuffing, and got 4 layers for each bed. I tied the quilt with yarn pieces, and the hardest part was getting the needle through the layers of fabric. All told, it took about 2 hrs to make the 2 beds. I was very satisifed with the outcome, and both enjoyed the beds. Thanks for the great idea. I agree that these would make great gifts, especially for friends who acquire a new pup.
