I was just wondering if anyone remembers about what weight their pup was around 12 or so weeks. Dax had his vet appt. when he was 13 weeks old, and weighed 24 pounds. Is that large? Small? Average?
I was just wondering because he is around the same size (a few pounds smaller) than my cousins lab puppy. Their lab is an English lab and both parents were pretty large, whereas Dax's parents weren't real big. Just wondering. Thanks. |

Yeah he might have been over eating, LOL!!! He is about 45 pounds at 6 months....we cut back his food and went to 3 feedings instead of 2....running through the snow has been giving him a good work out...so now I think we are back on track for regular weight!

Litttle baby Bruno was 21 pounds at 10 weeks. 29 pounds at 13 weeks. Will be 4 months in a week and is pushing 36. Vet said he was perfectly healthy. GSP needs a tucked tummy, and you want to be able to see their ribs when they turn side to side.

Alrighty...thanks everyone. I think Dax is just about right then...I just wasn't sure if I was going to have one of those unusually large GSPs but I guess he's about average then.

We got Gator when he was 3 months old. He was 36 lbs at 6 months when he was neutered. The next day he went to the vet, and weighed in at 20 lbs. Adult weight is 77 lbs.

Rocky at 10 months when he entered rescue was 65lbs. At 12 months at adoption weighed in at 72lbs. Now he weighs between 76 to 79 lbs in my every 2 month weigh ins at the Vet this year. Rocky is 27 inches at the withers. 34 inch chest and 21 inches at the base of his neck. I measure him from time to time with a tape measure to keep in check with our weight loss program as 1 year and a few months ago we had Rocky at 94 lbs Diagnosed with Pancreatitis at 7 years old.

Marie,
From what I can tell with a tape, he's about 24.50 at the shoulders, I hope he's done growing.

At 13 weeks here is what each of my dogs weighed: Belle 22 lbs (female) Halo 21 lbs (female) Ringo 22 lbs (male) and here is where they ended up: Belle 24 inches at the withers and 55 lbs (big by the standard for females) Halo 22 inches at the withers and 51 lbs (upper edge of the standard for females) Ringo 25 inches at the withers and 60 lbs and growing (Ringo is still adding muscle mass as he is only 1.5 YO) (Ringo is also at the upper limit of the standard for mailes.) |

Xara ran about 20 lbs at 12 weeks, shes' now 6 months and without actually having a scale I'd estimate her at about 40-45 lbs. She's going to be a small GSP, she stands maybe 20-21 inches at the withers I'll have to measure her to be certain, but my springer is about 19 and Xara is a few inches taller than he.

if i remember correctly at 13 weeks dieter was 26lbs. the withers are the top of the shoulders? if so dieter is already 25 inches. At six monthes he was 40lbs. I would say he is pushing 50 lbs right about now (7 months)

Chessie was weighted last week at 12 weeks and she weighted 15lbs. She weighted 7lbs at 8 weeks when we got her. She is also the runt of the littler. She has one sister that was as small as her, but all her brothers where about twice her size.
