EP's are not known to be a versatile hunting dog, as the GSP or DK is the GSP and DK are known to hunt everything (if taught to do so) Upland birds, Ducks, Fur such as rabbits, and even known to dispatch preditors such as fox if they are trained to do it and they are excellent hunters from land and the sea.

The EP are known for being a great upland bird hunters, most arent swimmers and rarley will they be good for a duck or fur hunter.

I hunt with both.  Here are the major differences I see.

Retrieving-  My EP's have never picked up anything besides a bird(dummies,tennis balls,toys)  My GSP's will pick up anything they can find birds,shoes,garden rakes etc....

Range- EP's always seem to range out a little further and never run out of gas.  GSP's will hunt all day just not as hard or far.

Companionship-  My wife has never really taken to a pointer including my baby that I've had for 8 years.  She falls in love with the GSP's because of their loving nature.  They just like people better to the point that they can be aggravating when seperated from their families.
