We have a 5month old GSP, who we just brought home from the Breeders on December 15th.  He is a great pup so far.  We are wanting him more for a family dog than hunting or show.  What kind of training should I look into for him?  Is he getting too late of a start?  We have him Crate trained for bedtime and when we are not home.  I have tried walking him with the leash on and he does not seem interrested in that?  But I also would like for him to be able to walk freely by our side...any suggestions would be helpful.  Also any suggestions on dog food??Thanks

First, it is never too late to start training. I would start with basic obedience. As for food, there are lot's of good ones out there. However, if he is doing good on what the breeder was feeding I would leave him on that. If for some reason you really need to change your pup's food, then look for a high quality food. Innova and Wellness are both brands I use and can recommend them, but there are other good ones too. Good luck with your pup and the training.
