I've noticed that a few of the dogs on here have bright orange collars on and they seem to have something on them. What are they please?

A lot of us probably have orange collars, due to being hunting dogs.  Over here, upland bird hunters have to wear an orange item, and for visability and safety--a lot of us outfit our dogs in orange too.  You don't want some over anxious hunter to mistake your dog for a coyote, deer, etc.  I like to get the plastic coated nylon collars, because they stay so clean.  And then I get the brass name tag riveted on, as it's the best name tag I've found that will not come off of the collar.

We don't hunt with our dogs, but they both have bright orange nylon collars for wearing in the woods (help us identify them) along with bells on each one :D

As was already posted they are hunting collars with name plates.  Here is a link so you can see one.  They also have a center ring which allows the dog to escape the collar if he gets hung up on brush.

Allot of them also have on ecollars with bright orange collars.

I've recently seen some neon hunter orange collars with round things attached that turned out to be nightlights.   Just twist them and they turn on.   Very clever.  Not sure where to purchase them.

You may also be seeing the bright orange e-collars. Serving both the "hunter safety" purpose as well as the training tool that most people use on their dogs. The little black box on the orange collar is the mechanism that provides stimulation and/or sound and is quite effective for keeping track of these dogs when they are out hunting. It's both a training and tracking tool at times.
