We're in Orange County, CA... about a 2 hour drive to the San Bernardino National Forest or the Cleveland National Forest... or a couple more hours south into Mexico Splat, whereabouts in N. Illinois are you? I am originally from IL and went to school in DeKalb. Grew up in St. Charles, worked in Schaumburg area for quite a long time. |

| I am in Murfreesboro TN, which is about 1 hour SE of Nashville. Not to many GSP's around that I have seen. The other day there was one at the "Bark Park" but the owner had rescued him and didn't know what breed he was. So of course I told him and also enlightened him on some of the usual behaviors of the breed. He was quite surprised that I was describing his boy to a tee. LOL |

| Evanston, IL, just north of Chicago - home of Northwestern University. No GSP's in my neighborhood that I've seen, but lots of birds, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits and the occasional skunk, opossum and racoon. Even saw a coyote a few months back. |

Northwestern Vermont. We have ruffed grouse, woodcock, waterfowl and released pheasant. There are tons of bird dogs up here, I know at least two dozen other shorthairs.

I live in Berlin Wisconsin the area of about 4 pheasant game farms. It is not uncommon to see a ring neck collecting gravel along our rural high ways. I am also the the mother of the Berlin American Legion Baseball Catcher who's team won the American legions State (Berlin) and Nationals tornaments in 200l hosted by Westby, Wisconsin. That long weekend , we stayed in a Bed and Breakfast in Westby and between games for a break drove to experience a very beautiful park in Viroqua. Just Gods Country. So I know that Hogan lives in Gods Country Just beautiful country and nice to see some real hills... GSPs and Labs are very popular in our town and surrounding areas. We even have a GSP breeder in our town who runs an awesome pheasant game farm we hunt on. |

I am in that area...I am in a little town called Marengo....but we are buying a house and should be closing this month and that will be in a smaller town Caledonia. I shop in the Sycamore area which is very close to Dekalb all the time and venture out to the big city of Shamburg to the mall once in a great while.

Being that I am north of chicago too thought I would chime in that we see and hear tons of coyote all the time...fox too...the dogs scared one up out of the pasture a couple weeks ago....the fox jumped the fence and the dogs didn't luckily!

North Central PA, just east of Williamsport. Unfortunately for us this year we are in a no pheasant hunt area. Hopefully in the future the pheasant population will be back up to par that we can hunt them again here and not have to travel. Lots of other birds and critters to hunt GSP's are present here and we are meeting more. |

We're in the blue grass region of Kentucky, just a bit west of Lexington. Lots and lots of beautiful horse farms, but no game birds that we've seen.
We moved here in Feb of this year, and I still can't get over the beauty of this place.
If we could find other GSP owners in the area (Central KY) we'd love to get a club started. |

BTW, those of us in Oregon & Washington get serveral grouse species, pheasant, chukkar, quail, etc. as far as dog-hunting goes. I almost hit a deer last week, dad hit one a few days ago, but we're still doing better than the neighbor on the other side of their house that hit 2 in one day. Plenty of elk, deer, bear, bobcat, and cougar around also. SO... the biggest trouble w/ having GSPs around here is keeping them confined so they don't self-hunt to oblivion. |

| I live in Melrose MN, a fair amount of Gsps around but a lot more overweight labs in the area. We almost lost Kia last month to a stomach infection. We brought her in because she was acting like she had a obstruction. First vet did x-rays found nothing and gave her meds and fluids, she was fine for two days and then crashed Sunday afternoon. Off to the ER vet and after about six hours of barium x-rays they found a obstruction. Monday she went in for surgery and no obstruction but her stomach was so badly infected they thought she had cancer. There wasn't any cancer and after three days at the vet resting, and taking alot of meds she was better. The funny thing other than the cost of all this is the vet saying to keep the dog inactive for a week. Only time she stops is to sleep. |
