soo, I just want to be extra prepared for my pup so I wanted to show you guys a list of supplies I have so far just to see if I at least have all the baisics covered.

Crate, Leash, Collar, food/water bowls, huge dog bed, lots of toys, brushes (we have so many because all of our other dogs have longer fur so we have everything from a rubber pad to a slicker brush), cleaning products, puppy shampoo, nail trimmers.  I think that pretty much covers it so far although I know santa claus is gonna be bringing alot more puppy stuff than people stuff this year haha. I still need food and everything and his first vet appt. is already scheduled. I think I have everything covered so far especially since I still have 4 weeks to wait. If Im missing anything let me know! thanks

Big Ben alarm clock for next to the  puppy crate, the ticking sound will help you  sleep the first week at night. It works like a charm on the pups!

Lot's of chew toys. I would recommend deer antlers over bones or rawhide.

haha sunday went really well. I took some pictures but I cant find our USB cord to upload the pictures!!! Deer antlers will be good...I have a bunch of them from shed hunting, and I was actually hoping to teach the pup to be an antler dog so maybe having antlers as chews will help with the training. How long do antlers last?

so a ticking alarm clock....Ill have to remember to get that, I read about it in a few articles that it calms the puppy because it sounds like a heart beat....thanks for the reminder!

Antlers last a long time depending on the size of the antler and the level of power chewer you have. With a puppy I suspect they will last a long time. Deer antlers in general last a lot longer than any other chew toy. They also do not splinter like a bone.

The clock reminded me that I always get my new puppies a stuffed animal about the size of a litter mate to snuggle with in their crate.

This is my list of puppy readiness:

Crate for the house
Crate for the car
Food (what the breeder was feeding and what I will be feeding, for the transition)
A few toys (PetStages makes GREAT puppy toys, and Tessa still loves them!)
Deer antlers or chew toys (nylabones etc)
Collar, leash
Drag leash (a very light handle-less leash to drag around the house, comes in handy!)
Check cord (lighter weight for the puppy)

And lots of treats for rewards. I make my own treats and if you are interested I have the recipes on my website. See my website link below. My kids particularly like the Banana Bites and you can break them easily into small bites.

If you could get a blanket to the breeder so they can have mom and littermates get their scent on it, this worked wonders for Bo.

I'll also ditto the suggestion for a soft toy to mimic a littermate (kong makes nice soft puppy wubbas).
