I found this on a site and wanted to share it. Does anyone else know about this? Or if the poor dog is alive? I cannot believe how sick some people can be!

Reward Offered in Union Co., Oregon Animal Cruelty Case |
 |
 |
 |
February 25, 2007
PORTLAND, Ore.-- The Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for dragging a dog nearly to his death in La Grande, Oregon.
The Case:
An 18-month-old German shorthair pointer named Tuck was found along the highway on Cricket Flat, Sunday, April 22. His paws, his right side and his shoulder were ripped to shreds; with wounds so deep they exposed bone. "Judging from the depth of his wounds, he was either dragged a long way slow, or a short way real fast," said Trish McDaniel, mother of Wesley McDaniel, the seventh-grader who raised Tuck from a pup.
According to media reports, a local man found the dog in a ditch with a rope tied tightly around his neck, bleeding from his wounds. “We’re looking at aggravated animal abuse, which is a felony,” said Union County Animal Enforcement Officer Lanie Blaylock. The Union County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case and is looking for public cooperation and information that would lead to an arrest.
Animal Cruelty:
Acts like this have disturbing implications for the community at large because there is a well-documented connection between animal cruelty and human violence. The HSUS First Strike Campaign® raises public awareness and educates communities about this connection while providing resources to law enforcement agencies, social work professionals, educators, legislators and families. The HSUS offers rewards in animal cruelty cases across the country and works to strengthen laws against animal cruelty. Visit www.hsus.org/firststrike .
The Investigators:
The Union County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this case. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Officer Lanie Blaylock at 541-963-1017.

Well, I googled, La Grande Oregon for the Newspaper and went to their archives. Other than the not so HSUS is leading the battle to find the people who hurt Tuck, the story certainly seems legit. There are a couple of later stories, the last of which I found at www.lagrandeobserver.com/news/results.cfm?story_no=10871 back in June. Unfortunately, the world is full of sickos like this. All we can do is to be the most responsible owners that we can be and keep our furkids safe. Best wishes to all Phyllis and the NM furtribe www.singltrakshorthairs.com |

The old auditor curiosity got the better of me so I started searching. Tuck is making a recovery. See the story at http://www.lagrandeobserver.com/news/results.cfm?story_no=10871 I hope the link works as it is in the newspaper's archives. |

| Need to learn to read better. This is the same link Phyllis had. You have to cut and paste it in your browser but it does work and there is a picture of Tuck. |
