When Layla is feeling realy affectionate, she puts her head into the crook of my elbow or a little higher and "nibbles" on me. It's so soft & gentle that even if it's on bare skin I don't feel it. I really only call it a nibble because I can't think of a better word.
Nibble nibble nibble for a few minutes as she rests against me & then it's off to her next "mission". I've never had a dog do that before, just wondering if any other crazy GSPs out there are love nibblers. |

| Ringo and Belle will rest their head on me. Ringo's favorite place is to come up from behind and and put his head on my shoulder so we are cheek to cheek. Belle will come up and put her head in my lap or on my arm. Halo is much more pushy. Shewill take her nose and lift your arm or hand up on to her head to be loved. No nibblers though. |

When he's feeling extra affectionate Buddy will nibble ever so lightly on earlobes. Nowhere else, just earlobes. One day I reciprocated to see what he would do, but got no reaction, just a mouthful of hairy ear. |

When our old lady - Molly, age 14 - gets really excited when you come home, usually when you've been away traveling, she dances (as well as an old lady can) around and wants to mouth or lip your hand or arm. It's as if she is trying to hold your hand. Her mouth is open, no pressure or closing of her jaws at all. Hard to explain. |

You have to watch my Ziggy...he only nibbles those he really likes. So, if you see a full-grown intact NM boy who wants to hug on you, just watch out....if he leans toward your nose, you can expect he will nibble very very lightly on the tip. Her never bites hard nor long, but he does nibble LOl! ...never have figured this out but a lot of Shorthairs are very "mouthy". One grand old man, long gone to the Bridge, DC Rugerheim's Autumn Wynd, MH (Ruger), would meet the ladies coming to visit him at the front door and gently take their ear and lead them to his "boudoir"....what a guy.. | I am glad I don't have the only nibbler. It is just the sweetest thing. Layla is a rescued dog and I knew she had finally & truly bonded with me when she started doing it. I got her when she was 18 months and it was her third home (not including her breeder & a stay in a shelter) so it took her a while to settle in & become part of the family. |

| Lola loves to nibble, she even nibbles lilly sometimes, but i don't think lilly understands. she takes it to mean lola wants to play. |

| Rogan and Anya are both 'nibblers' if given the chance. I tend to discourage it as I don't want some nit thinking they're 'biting' (the ecstatic full-body wiggling should be proof that they're not, but I never underestimate some people's idiocy). |

| Holly's a bit of a nibbler. I try to discourage it as MegC says, she tends to go for hands and could be mistaken for going in for a bite! She does it to her big brother's face too which he isn't too keen on. |

When Osiris came to us from the rescue, he had a habit of doing that. It was cute at first, like you said, like he wanted to "hold your hand" and take you somewhere to show you something. But if he got too excited, he tended to chomp down a little and he bruised me one day, so I put a stop to it soon after. I knew he meant no harm, but like others said, the last thing I needed was someone accusing him of trying to bite! Now he greets me by going to get the nearest toy he can find and dancing around with it in his mouth!!!
Osiris doesnt really nibble, but he does was I call "Happy Swallows." Cheesy, I know. I learned from working with my e-collar with him that a when a dog swallows after you give a command or praise, it means he approves, or is happy to please. When we snuggle and I am petting him, he does this clicking thing with his tounge and jaw and swallows and then nuzzles into me. That is a sign to me that he enjoys the attention I am giving him and that he enjoys snuggling with me.... and he only does it with me!! So cute!

| Layla is very timid around other people & barely allows a quick head pat from anyone, even family, so I don't need to worry about her nibbling anyone else. She is a one-person dog, for sure. |
