Rocky travelled across the Badger State today to meet Ranger, thanks to this great message board.  (Actually, it was an exercise break for him as he was on the way to MN.) We have been corresponding via e-mail upon learning we are practically neighbors.

How wonderful to meet another "Shorthairs" forum member in person!  "Marie" and her son were just as nice as could be and we all had a great hike at a local county park.

Maybe some of you will have (or have had) similar opportunities to meet other GSP enthusiasts as we did.  It's a great experience!

Amy

Rocky is quite a bit bigger than Ranger!

What similar expressions!

They look like they could be cousins. GSPs just seem to understand that other GSPs are nicer than other dogs.

It was spectacular  Rocky  to meet Ranger!!!! So fun watching 2 GSP's doing beautiful points on critters in the forest!!! Thank YOU to this board for giving Amy , Mike, Rocky, Ranger and I a chance to meet. Ranger with his stripe down his forehead reminded me of our first GSP Poge!!  Could not believe the spring Ranger had being a smaller lighter weight GSP compared to big boy Rocky.  Rocky did trim up in the Twin cities staying at Mikes's  house. Mike lives one block from a park where Rocky did alot of tennis ball chase retrieve sesions and One half block from a hugh walking and mountain bike trail park. I think Rocky is down to from 87.2lbs to 85lb's. After being away for 5 and half days. YES I HAVE A TIRED GSP!!!!! AND A PEACEFUL EVENING TO UNPACK !!!

The fresh air sure does relax them. I was gone all day working today and then I gave them a good run for a while and now they are all vegged on the couch and floor! You can really mess with them when they are tired out like that too! Rocky looks very peaceful in that chair!! Do you have snow there now? We have several inches now!!

We just have about one inch of snow on the ground. And the temp was a really cold sub zero wind chill. Rocky did alot of running and in the evening run was cut short as he was stopping to lick his paws. I thinkhis paws froze and were too cold for him. He is out cold in his favorite living room chair now since about 8 pm.... Tomorrow we are forcasted to get 4 to 8 inches of the white stuff so should be fun if it stays and will burn alot of GSP runny runny time energy in deeper snow!!!! Got Rocky weighed in at the Vet today as we had to go for lyme booster shot and he weighed in at 81.6 lbs down from 87.6lbs from our last Vet visit 2 weeks ago. So our Vet was real happy and said the trip and travel to see Ranger and go up to visit Mike in the Twin Cities with all the running and added exercise paid off. Our Vet assistant said it was like sending Rocky to Fat Camp.!!!

Nice!! We got about a foot of snow last night. Blowing, drifting, etc.. Let the dogs out this morning to potty and they got all wound up. Bounding around like antelope!!! They sure get frisky in the cold weather. Mocha goes nuts. She is usually more to the mellow side but in the cold she will attack the other dogs. Not mean but I mean she will bound after them and jimp at them and so on. It's like she is a puppy all over again!!

Rocky went crazy over the snow last night and this morning could not wait to get out there. We ended up with 6 inches of snow. Good news is that I have been going out in the back grassy field doing dummy tosses fro Rocky to retrieve so got him off tennis balls. So this morning Rocky did awesome retrieves in the snow and we didnot lose any tennis balls in the snow as the dummy was easy to find for Rocky. He stayed right on it. Very happy  I will just hae to refresh it once in awhile with pheasant scent!!!

That's cool. I am glad the bird scent worked out for you. Mine love it too. Mocha still loves her frisbee. I have a new nylabone one and she races across the snow and usually will jump and catch it in the air. Or she pile drives it into an explosion of snow. I had so much fun with them tonight. They were running up the snow banks from my plowing and jumping off into the powder. So much fun!!!
