Ringo got his 4th leg today for his JH title.  He had near perfect scores with a 10 in Hunting, 9 in Pointing, bird finding, and trainability for the highest score at the Hunt Test.  The judges said he was a very nice hunting dog.

Fritz would have been proud of his boy.

That a boy, Ringo - check out that score! Considering what all could go a little off, that is quite nice! Congratulations to both of you. I love the photo. Is that what the ribbons look like - orange ones for the legs and the big one for the title?

You get an orange ribbon for each qualifying leg.  The clubs down here always give a rosette orange ribbon for the qualifying leg and a red, white and blue rosette for a new title.  Not sure if everywhere give the new title rosette.  I was very proud of his scores.  What a difference a little maturity and training make.  I am glad now he didn't finish last spring as his scores were not anywhere near what he did today.  He was getting 7s and 8s which aren't bad,  but....

Tessa -  Wasn't your HT this weekend?  Or is it next weekend?  Let me know how you do?  You are where I was last spring first timer handling a HT dog.  I know you and Tessa will do good, but as I always say the most important thing is to have fun.

She will run tomorrow. We trained with NAVHDA today, unfortunately, her cooperation was just awful. She was in bird heaven far, far removed from earth. Last month, she was so good, I could call her and turn her, today, nothing. I know they are lenient but gee...I don't know. Total wild card.

I found out that there is an additional HT in November, and on our training grounds no less. That makes three HT weekends this fall that we can attend.

How old is Ringo again?

Ringo is 17 months. He was 9 months when he did his first HT. He lost his brain around 11 months and has just recently gotten it back. You know, the puppy stupids. I was very surprised and pleased with his performance today.

Relax and just have fun tomorrow. Don't worry about turning her or giving too many commands. Just walk. I guarantee she will know where you are and will follow. Let her work. She knows how to use the wind and by now she knows where to find birds. Just watch her and if she points call it. If the birds flush, cap your gun and then move on. Even if she chases. I usually let out a whoop so Ringo knows I am moving on, but I don't call him. They will typically come on their own.

Relax and don't worry about it. Tessa will surprise you. Good luck! Can't wait to hear how it goes.

Congratulations, Ringo and Bev. I imagine that you will soon need to add a trophy room to your house for all of your broods wonderful accomplishments.  We're all very happy for you. Way to go!

Well today's run was for fun since we had gotten our JH on Sat, but Ringo put in another spectacular day again he was the highest scoring dog. This time his 10 of 10 was in pointing and he gots 9s in everything else. His point was beautiful. I was very proud of my boy again today.

zimbass - My plan is to take him all the way to MH and maybe even field trial him some.

I'm embarassed as an owner of two GSPs (one of which has her JH) that I don't know what any of the titles, marks, etc. mean ... Having said that, I know this is a great accomplishment that you have worked very hard towards Bev. Ringo is certainly a star! (And a beautiful boy to boot!) Congratulations!
