Joey loves curling up and sleeping as close as possible to us.  Is this something we can look forward to as she gets older?

Sisters by chance, friends by force!

Laying around you, on you and body slamming you just to get absolutely as close to you as possible. Typical GSP. Love the pictures. She is a cutie.

Yep!!! Next to oyu as close as possible if not on you!
I made the mistake last night of letting the pups sleep loose & leaving my bedroom door open, usually only Buck & Tara sleep in bed with me & the babies in their crates, Mac, Moon and Bull in the living room or sons room. Woke up unable to move, no covers, no pillow & 6 GSPS hogging the bed!! Legs asleep, unable to boot the youngsters off (both snugly laying across them) Tara sound asleep from her long run that day on my arm.....pins and needles there also, Moon half across my chest and Buck at the bottom end making it impossible to even stretch my legs. (but I wasn't cold, LOL!!)
Needless to say, didn't get much sleep & tonight the terrible twins sleep in their crates & the door gets shut!!

awwwwwwww!!! those pics are totally adorable! Yep, Xara snuggles in the chair with me every chance she gets, especially at night around bedtime. I soooo wish she could sleep with me, but Dave's allergies don't allow animals in the bedroom.

The only time mine will not be in the bed with us, is when the woodstove is cooking. He will be right in front of it.

That's why they call them "Velcro" dogs. Gotta love them.

That is too cute! Yes, Tessa likes to snuggle too, when she's ready to "deactivate". I find a GSP the perfect snuggle size even full grown...well, not sure about the neck snuggle full grown...Tessa doesn't do that one.

She's adorable! You are in for many years of snuggling. GSPs want to almost get inside your skin, they like to be so close.

Cute pictures!

Mine are both snugglers. When there isn't room beside me on the couch because Daniel is hogging it, Layla will get on the back of the couch & drape herself over my shoulders like a shawl Fortunately, she is tiny & weighs just over 40 pounds.

And their heads smell like dark chocolate. Although Tessa's smells like pastries tonight.

Ditto what Dan said....I like to think it's about affection more than body heat, but we do get snubbed when the woodstove is cranked up.  Can't say I blame him, though!

I guess this is totally normal then!!  They definitely love to be warm.

Another question-- Joey is always shivering when she is outside until shes run around for 10 minutes or so. We are in upstate NY and its only starting to get cold.  When we open the door now she stands there with an expression like "are you kidding me, its freezing out there".  Will she just get used to it?  I don't really like the thought of putting a jacket on her.    Shes also pretty skinny, so that probably makes her more susceptible.

Some of the shaking could also be excitement or nervousness as they will also shiver for those reasons. That aside, puppies are still developing and their thermostat control is not as good as when they are older. That said, I never put a coat on my dogs and they seemed to adapt to the temps pretty well. Belle was the only one I had in the winter as a pup. She never seemed terribly bothered by it, but we live in Texas so cold for us is around 30 degrees and most days are in the 40s or 50s and it is usually sunny. If it is freezing and no sun then I would be more concerned with a pup in the cold.

Now that all my dogs are adults the cold doesn't seem to bother them at all even when below freezing as long as they can move around and run. They have even been known to swim in icy waters in winter with snow when I was in the Rockies. When they do that though I make sure they have a way to get warm and dry either by running or taking them inside.
