OK, Jet is finally coming together a bit better, she is still leggy & a tad long IMO, but her topline is much better than it was, it wasn't good from 7 weeks until about 2 weeks ago. Jesse hasn't changed to much other than size.

| Looking good. The last two stacked shots are the best. I think length wise she is fine and has a nice topline. You are right, she is still leggy, but that is her age. Overall I think she is coming together very nicely. She is a pretty girl. |

Bev...the last 2 shots are Jesse, not Jet, first 2 are Jet. He is shorter backed than her for sure. They are hard to tell apart, she is brighter & their head markings differ if you look at the back of the head. Thanks, I think Jesse is a pretty boy too!! |

| Boy they really do look alike. So, on the first two shots I think you have her stretched out too much in the back which my also be making her look too long to you. I don't think she is too long though. I love her front, for a 4.5 MO she already has a nice chest. Her topline looks good to me. She is leggy too, but that is her age. Man I thought that was all the same dog. LOL. They do look alike. Both are very nice. |

Wow what a matched set! I am not a pro at judging confirmation, but I like Jesse.

p.s. How much do they weigh now? It's been a long time since we've kept a pup and Ellie and Gretchen still seem small to me for being 5 months. |

They are 36-38(Jet) and 41(Jesse) lbs, I'm guessing Jets weight as she is smaller than Jesse, but I haven't weighed her recently. Jet is almost 20" and Jesse almost 21".

Ok, then Ellie and Gretchen will be on the smaller side of the standard - which is what we want for field. At 4.5 months, Ellie was 27 lbs and Gretchen 30. I'm guessing they'll top out around 48-53 lbs, which is perfect for our purposes. Thanks for the comparison. It's funny how fast you forget.

| Wow what a set, they look so much a like, but before reading the posts I did notice you had 2 dogs in the pictures so I looked for the difference and saw it was in the back of the head and neck just a little bit different! |

I have a couple of comments, I don't think they look too leggy, although i like a leggy look over a short legged look. I think Jesse will finish very fast as he has that look with nice proportion and square male look. I think part of why Jet looks so leggy is her really long upper arm, which also makes their chest look less deep. she will finish quick also just maybe not as fast as Jesse. Which one moves better at trot and full run speed? Jet looks like she could brun up some ground with that upper arm and IMO a really good moderate rear angle that keeps her rear legs more under her body for power. They look older than 4.5 months and could finish out of the puppy classes IMO. Matt |

Thank everyone, I'm pretty pleased with them so far!! Jean, they may not get more than mid-standard, Tara was Jets size at this age & is only 22" and 45-48 lbs. Matt, thank you very much, I agree, I htink Jesse will finish fairly quick, maybe from the puppy classes if I can find some puppy judges. Jet can run, she almost keep up with Tara already & can go for a long time. Jesse is slower, but males seem to mature a bit slower (at least mine have) and he is still a bit "clunky". |

| Well I don't kow much about showing and conformation and the whole bit... but they both are beautiful! They are nearly identical in that last shot... how on earth do you tell them apart?! |

Jesse is quite a bit darker than Jet & bigger, head marking slightly different on back of neck, I had a harder time before they darkened up. I have on occasion though hollered the wrong name at one for being bad.......now I just say "UH-UH!!" if I cannot see the head well.
Matt, in answer to your question on movement, they are quite similar in gait, neither is extreme in reach and drive, both move nicely, balanced, from the side and coming & going, Jesse is a tad hocky moving right now(he self stacks straight), but that doesn't bother me in a pup this age. (I meant before he broke his toe)

Jenny is 4.5 months now and in the middle of a very awkward puppy stage. I figured I would put her up here anyways. She is just shy of 21" and is 40lbs.

Posted By DesertRoseKennel on 09/23/2009 7:22 PM p.s. How much do they weigh now? It's been a long time since we've kept a pup and Ellie and Gretchen still seem small to me for being 5 months. I was curious to an exact weight, Jesse is 40 as he was at the vets, weighed Jet today (at a friends...I dont have a scale)and she is only 33, not 36-38, guess I'm not to good at guesstimating, LOL!! She doesn't seem that much smaller the Jess, but he has a lot more bone & is an inch & a half taller. Their littermate Mouse is 32 lbs, we weighed her also.(she is 19" at the shoulder, just a 1/2 inch shorter than Jet) Had another puppy owner stop by the shop today on her way back from the vet, her pup is also 32 lbs, not sure of height though, she is also a bit shorter than Jet. Jenny is cute, she's as big as my big boy! |

Thanks, it helps to have the comparison. I think partly why they look so much bigger in the photos to me than my girls is because when I'm behind the dog stacking them (not that I'm any good at it), my 6 ft frame makes the dog look smaller in relative terms.
It's always interesting to me how much different siblings who look the same size can be in weight. Ellie and Gretchen are great examples. Gretchen is the hard-packed powerhouse, where Ellie is leaner and lighter of bone. Ellie is by far faster. Even though Ellie is taller, her sister always outweighs her by several pounds.
