It'll be interesting to see what happens size/weight wise between Rayne and Tessa. Rayne won't be spayed for a while as I attempt to finish her in the show ring. It remains to be seen whether she'll be bred or not.....

Well, maybe the spay will help...they say spayed dogs get fat...just the thought of a "fat" Tessa cracks me up...just can't even imagine it. I do wish she would fill in some. Do you have a recent photo of Rayne?

I wouldn't worry too much about Tessa getting fat.... It didn't happen with mine and they were all older when they were spayed. I was worried that they would get fat but monitored there food intake . Nothing is uglier than a fat GSP!

Here are a few pics of Rayne from last month. The 2 dog pic is her and her mom, Terra.

In case my personal experience helps:

Gracie was spayed at about 9 months.  She did have one heat cycle prior to this (about 7 months).  The vet measured/weighed her at the spay appointment = 23", 43lbs.  My opinion: a little underweight.

She will be a year at the end of this month and has put on about 5lbs. (looks like all muscle in the shoulders and hips to me).  So, measurements this month are 23", 48lbs.  I think she's at her ideal weight right now...lean and mean.

Her build looks very similar to the photo of Rayne...maybe a little less chest, little more rear.  Healthy looking GSPs in my opinion.

Rayne are Terra are gorgeous by the way!

Wow, Rayne is beautiful! A little more shoulders and chest than Tessa. I think Tessa has more thighs than shoulders...

Gail - Rayne and Terra are beautiful dogs. Love the picture of mother and daughter.
Francis - My experience with Belle and spaying her was the same. She was spayed at 6 months prior to coming in season. She stayed pretty much the same once I figured out the right amount to feed her. The only two differences I see is Belle puts on weight easier than Halo and is slightly thicker in the waist (this might be simply that they are from different lines thought).

Thanks, for the compliments! I'd like Rayne to be closer to 50lbs heading into the cold winter weather here in Ottawa. It's barely above freezing today.... I also have some conformation shows next month so she should be carrying a bit more weight for those.
