hi all my gsp ruby is now 5 and a half months and i was wondering how much bigger will she get ? she seems fairly big now and the breeder said they prob reach the hight they are going to be by 6 -7 months and then may fill out a bit . well 7 months isnt that far away so i just wondered ?
she is progressing nicely and not play biting or knocking the kids over anymore and although she was and can still be hard work she is fitting into our family wonderfully .
many thanks in advance |

Puppies do reach full height around 7 months. They continue to "fill out" for several years though. Gail |

| Tessa's height and length was complete at around 7 months. Sje is now 14 months and filling out a little, but is still pretty thin. Her neck size has not changed in the last few months either. Will see but yes, from what I understand, while height and length are done, the body still changes until they are 2, sometimes 3 years of age. |

I will concur with what was previously mentioned.
Gracie is almost 11 months and her height hasn't changed since about 7 months (she's about 23"). She is still filling out muscle mass, though. |

I'm glad to hear that 7 month figure. Luke is 6 months and 50lbs now. If he gets too much taller I'll have to line the kitchen counters with baby gates! |

I also was wondering on how large and fast GSP's reach full size, I have a male and had him at the vets for shots at 17 weeks, He was 37 lbs. and 19" at the top of sholders, The vet said he be at the top end of the standards. Does his size and weight fall into line with others his age?
Thanks |

| There is another thread that talks about this in great detail. I can't find it right now as I am on a slow connection. In any case, the 6 to 7 month range is about right for height and length. They will continue to mature and add muscle weight as they fill out. This can be up to 2 to 3 years old depending on the dog. All of mine are on the upper end of the standard, but I like them on the big side. By the way my boy is the counter surfing master hunter in our family. I have been working to break him of this habit since he was a pup. So far his determination is in the lead, but I am perservering. We shall see who wins in the end. And yes, I do believe that somewhere under disposition or temperament in the GSP standard you will find counter surfing. |

Jeff- My male is 23 weeks and weighs 42.5 lbs (according to our home scale). We think he'll grow to 70 lbs or so. Time will tell. Unfortunately, I am not sure how tall he stands, but I imagine he's about the same height as your male. Of course, your male is six weeks younger than mine. Sounds like you have a big boy on your hands!!
NCTT- My male is also about 5.5 months. How much does your girl weigh now? I hope Cooper gains some inches (height-wise) in the next 1-2 months!! |

Hi well i last weighed her 10 days ago at the vets and she was 20.8 k which ive just worked out to be close on 46lb !!!!!
to be honest she doesnt look fat but she is looooong , when i got her from the breeder this was the breeders pick but decided to let her go as she was going to be too big for breed standard to show.
wow shes going to be 60 pounds plus i recon maybe 65 if she weighs in at that now ??
im not bothered about breed standard size wize , we love her and shes our family pet , even now i remember walking her at 14-15 weeks and everyone saying wow shes got HUGE feet , shes gonna be big !! |

| Mine are 4 1/2 mnths now, Jesse is a hair under 21" at the shoulder and 41 lbs, Jet is just under 20" and 38 lbs. Tara was about the same size as Jet at this age and now only weighs 48 lbs & is 22" tall at 3 yrs old, so oyur girl may not go over standard. How large are her parents?? |

| Tessa yesterday: 15 months, 46 lbs, 23.5" (!) and still very lean. I wonder if she will ever fill out in proportion to her height? |

Tessa - She will, probably after you have her spayed. Halo has stayed rail thin except just before she comes in season when she adds a few pounds. Mother natures way of prepping her for motherhood. She sheds the pounds after she is threw her cycle. Belle on the otherhand filled out nicely after she was spayed. I had to watch her weight at first until we got the right amount of food down. Now no problems with her at all. A little wider in the waist, but it is only noticeable to me. Ringo is slowly starting to fill out. He is a big one at the top of the standard (and I mean the tippy top). He weighed in at the vets about a month ago at 62 and I am betting he weighs more than that now. Allthe weight he is adding is muscle. His chest hasn't dropped yet either, so I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't top out right at 70. |

TessaGA, Rayne at 15 months is still pretty much the same, 45 lbs and 23". I wish that I could get more weight on her but she's so busy! Has Tessa been in heat yet? Rayne hasn't... I'm hoping she may start filling out a bit after she does. NCTT, Ruby is going to be a big girl! Gail |
