Around 5pm last night, Leena went missing

My boyfiend and I were back in the woods, near his house, with her and Bliss.  We go to these woods all the time, at least a few times a week.  Leena has been running around in them since we got her in January.  She usually runs around and always always always comes back.  Few minutes go by, and she hadnt returned.  Spent 3 hours last night looking for her and from 7am-2pm today.  I called all of our local police departments, SPCA, Humane Society, emergency vets.  I am printing up flyers now to put around tonight and tomorrow. She is pretty shy with strangers, I am not sure she would even go up to someone so they could get her.

I am so unbelievably upset right now.  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers for a safe return.

My heart goes out to you and I hope for Leena's safe return.

Last summer, Osiris's fence collar battery died and he got out of our yard and was gone for 5 hours.  I nearly died of panic.  Luckily, he was tagged and microchipped, and somone found him wandering and called me.

I hope and pray that Leena was tagged and that she makes it home.  I know how you are feeling right now.

Let us know if you find her tonight.  If not I'm sure we'll all have some suggestions on how to proceed -- this is heartbreaking to read.

Oh, no! That's so awful.. you'll get her back though!

Is it possible that she got injured while running in the woods? I've read somewhere else that you can try leaving something with your scent on it (like a shirt) where the she was lost and she may go back to it. Not sure how well that works, though.

Kerplunk, if you want me to I can list her lost on craigslist for you. Just email me your contact information and a picture and I'll get her posted for you immediately. SO many people read the pets section on there that maybe it is worth a shot to see if someone responds to the lost ad.

I hope you find her. She will probably come home late at night or be there in the morning. That's what I always hope.

Leave some clothes that smell like you outside where you were.

My Terra is still missing since last year. It is no fun.

Still missing. No calls or anything. I have a few

Posted some flyers tonight. I'm going to canvas the area tomorrow with flyers as well as visit the local shelters and vets. I already have calls in to them, but I want to give them flyers.

A local cop called and said he took a dog similar to mine to the SPCA earlier. I asked him to describe it: German Shepherd, male, older. I wanted to reach through the phone and choke him..my report is a German Shorthaired Pointer, female, young...

Elizabeth - You are in my thoughts and prayers. I know exactly what you are going through. Tyler got out of our gate without his collar on and was gone for 14 hours. At 2am my Zeus jumped up and went to the door. There sat Tyler soaking wet (we were in the middle of a thunder storm) at the front door. Hasn't even tried to poke his head beyond the gate anymore...

Don't give up! She is out there and is trying to find her way home. Just keep looking, I know you will find her.

Oh!! So sorry. You are going thur terrible worry. If you could get a gun dog with a good nose on him or her. Have the dog sniff Lena's blanket, pillow. Then take the dog on leash to the area with Lena's smell and tell the dog to hunt it up with nose on trail. May find Lena that way. Rocky and I have found many lost runaway dogs that way and have brought them home to their owners.    Wish I was in your area as Rocky and I would go to work in search for Lena. ..... Years ago  our first GSP, Poge ran off for 2 days. We  searched, made many calls and worried. Then 2 days latter Poge slumped up to our front door, very tired thin and ragged. Never so happy to see Poge back home again. Pray Lena returns home again safe.

My heart goes out to you and your girl. You must have had a terribly long, hard night last night :( . I wish I lived in your area to help you!

Wisconsin GSP rescue has a great list of what you should do when your dog goes missing, I posted the link below. I though that maybe this could be helpful.

Posted about 150 flyers today. Going to make more and go out again this afternoon. The dog warden of township where she was lost called today and asked me some more info about Leena. She has a 90% success rate, which gives me some hope.

Keep the faith. I have posted Leena missing on my facebook profile too. Anything to help spread the word. Prayers, thought and search will continue until Leena is back home safe.

Oh no, I have goosebumps from reading this. It makes me feel sick, and she's not even my dog. We'll all be saying a prayer here.

Share Rocky's history: Rocky went missing for 1 week from his original owners before Rocky was found and place in a local animal shelter. Rocky was 10 months old on his first hunting trip when he ran away.Of course the original Hunter who owned Rocky gave him up to GSP Rescue for adoption.
