Okay we all know that GSP's are water guys so lets see some pics people of our dogs enjoying the water!
here are some of Remington from this year.
This first one was at a friend's cottage. I was so thrilled to find out that they had a pond with a dock. I wanted to see if Remi would take to dock jumping since both of his parents are jumpers. At frist we had to block off the end of the dock to keep him from cheating and going in the side of the pond to fetch his wubba. But after a few times he was jumping fine. I don't think we'll ever compete but it's fun for both of us anyway

After his experience at the cottage the next time I took him swimmming I could tell his confidence had grown by leaps and bounds...he just charges in now!

Here are some pictures of my gang swimming at the beach (a bay on the Gulf of Mexico) about a month ago. The first picture is Halo (always in the lead, she is a fast swimmer) and Ringo swimming with my nephew.

Belle and Halo bringing back the bumper in tandem.

Ringo bringing me the bumper.

And Ringo waiting for the bumper. Oops, just noticed the seagulls. I was quick with the whoa command, so he held right where he was. Got his attention back on me and threw the bumper again. Thankfully, seagulls are not quail.

Please be extremely careful when you jump your dogs into water.
I have heard a number of sad stories of dogs being impaled on sticks and other objects under the water. |

| I'm going to have to find a body of water here for Xara to play in. We don't have too many places to go with dogs that you don't have to worry about fishing hooks being there, or too many logs and such but I am sure there is someplace people take their dogs. |

Great Job Remi! I think he gets it more from his mother than his father though. Moose has been pretty much retired from dock jumping as he doesn't like to jump in the pool. Now a pond, river or lake.... that is another story!
Here are a few pics of our guys (some are a bit old sorry).

Just for some laughs Remi as a baby!

Oh yes... Murphy LOOOOVVVVES water... he spends hours staring at the sprinkler relays in the back yard. He knows that they turn on the "faucets of fun" but without those necessary opposable thumbs he can't create his own water park! So he stands there staring...hoping one of us will do it for him. LOL... if there is a body of water or water coming out of a pressurized device of some sort he MUST be involved!

Playing with his dad and the hose:

...and his very first introduction to swimming at his first training day (he was about 4 months old)... I swear there is water under all that muck!

I've been a lurker here for a while, but you hooked me on this topic. My oldest gsp Roxi is 2 years and is addicted to water, so much that she tore my koi pond liner up, getting in and out 20x a day. The newest gsp Brandi is 3.5 months, but she started swimming at 10.5 weeks, and already looks like a seasoned pro. Thanks for having me. Denise

PS: From all these great water GSP Pics on this thread, I think we could train our GSPs. l to be duck hunting water retrieve dogs. We might have to get them warm neoprene jackets for the cold fall in the Northern States. |

Did somebody say ducks? Roxi loves duck searches, and we hope to go duck hunting for the 1st time, in this upcoming season.
July NAVHDA day.
