I'm SO GLAD to hear you got the dogs back!!!!!!

Dittoing everyone else about the fence, and another suggestion: some kind of audio/visual system in the fenced area and in the part of the house where they spend their time, especially while you're away. It sounds paranoid but you do NOT want to know how many mushers have had to scramble whole teams because a neighbor made unverifiable noise complaints.

In one particularly memorable case, the musher was able to prove that every dog on the place was in the truck at a race far, far away on a weekend a neighbor made multiple recorded 911 calls b!tching about barking dogs. Fortunately they were on good terms with the local police and had them park a couple times next to her place so when the neighbor called in the officer was able to call back saying "I'm sitting RIGHT HERE and NOT HEARING ANYTHING". The neighbors-from-hell only finally shut up when the police informed them that there was now more than enough evidence for the mushers to successfully sue them for harassment (I suspect they were getting sick of the phone calls also).

Unfortunately mean people still suck. *sigh*

Like all the others, I am relieved all turned out well, but I second what others have said, re building a visible fence.
I would probably be paranoid about having people like that as neighbors...hope they don't retaliate in a weird way.
Because they sure sound weird.

Great! Good things do happen to responsible people, and I'm so happy for all of you! But.....
(like they say on the Bachelorette when they are getting ready to can someone)..as the mom of a former ACO who picked up my neighbors' dogs one day (of many) when they were running loose...be very, very careful and mindful of your own dogs for the next few weeks. You may want to be sure the dogs are inside when you are not at home, and if you do put up a fence, check the perimeter of that fence on a regular basis.. It is not that hard to toss poisoned food over a fence or add anti-freeze to a water bowl without your notice. I don't want to scare you, but anyone who would attempt to take your dogs for defending their property is certainly not going away easily. You should not have to put up with this, but probably will for awhile...and don't be surprised if there is soon a new "Bear" puppy, who also runs loose and will attempt to visit you...some folks never learn to be responsible pet owners.

Congrats on your regaining what was rightfully yours to begin with!

Oh man. What Phyllis says is soooo true. This is a scary thought. I know people who have wanted to get rid of outdoor cats so they ripped up sponges into tiny peices and baited it with food. I'm sure I don't have to say what the outcome was. They were caught, don't know what happened, this was the day and age before any real animal rights.

I am so very happy for you. Just knowing that you have your dogs back makes the day that much brighter. Now for the dark side. Please please please beware of spiteful neighbors that try to harm them even if there is a 6 ft privacy fence. Poison in meat thrown over the fence and god forbid antifreeze in their water bowls. I lost my first GSP to antifreeze and it is not something I would wish on my worst enemy. PLEASE be aware of the things that CAN happen and adjust for such.

Again, I am beside myself with happiness for you and your dogs being reunited. :)

It would be nice if the courts gave some kind of stern warning right at the hearing, addressing the issue of possible retaliation - for either party involved.

Sounds like the police have figured this one out. That is good for you in case something else happens. I am sooooooo happy you got you pups back, and hope these folks are done with their vendetta. Just be careful.

May God bless that man. It sounds like he sees the truth, genuinely cares about you and your dogs, and is willing to put his time and effort into making and keeping things right when I'm sure he's got a ton of other fish to fry.

Well, Thank GOD you got your babies back. Poor pups missing their family. All because someone can't control their own animals. Kind of scary thing though that you could possibly lose them for someone/something coming into your property like that. I have no tresspassing, keep out, private propery signs. One beware of dog sign on Shadows pen (lab/rott mix) He is truly a big baby but barks like a T Rex.
I guess I shall put my fencing project into full force. I never really thought of it because we are in the middle of no where and my dogs are my shadows where ever I go. They don't leave the property unless I do.
Again, very happy for you!!
