First let me say I have kennel/crate trained every dog I have ever owned.  I have not owned hundreds but have owned a few dogs.  So please don't give me the "make kennel smaller suggestion".

So my problem is Schatzi is now 9 weeks old and has been home 1.5 weeks and she still goes in her kennel quite often...I use Natures miracle to clean it and have gone through almost 2 gallons in 1.5 weeks.

She can be outside for hours put her in the outside 10'x10' kennel to go potty before bringing her in and putting her in her kennel and 5 minutes later she pees in the kennel.

Other times...Same scenario...I can put her in the kennel and she can go 2-3 hours without an accident.

Sometimes she hates her kennel and she will fight and scratch not to be put in it and sometimes she goes in easily but never on her own she has to be placed in front of it and guided in.

Usually when she fights to stay out she won't stop yelping and scratching to get out and it is usually during these episodes that she pees in her kennel.

If she is placed or coaxed in and doesn't have a fit she does alright.

Also if I leave her in the outside kennel for more than 5 minutes she just goes next to the poop bucket and sleeps...is this normal?  The kennel is 10'x10' and the poop bucket is in the corner of the kennel under neath the house overhang.  The dogs usually don't use this area as a bathroom place so she is not laying where she pees or poops but still seems weird that she would cuddle up so close to the bucket.  I even placed her indoor kennel in the outdoor kennel so she would have a place to cuddle up while I cut the lawn and she cuddled up to the poop bucket instead.

So my question is how can I teach her to like the kennel and feel it is like her home.  All my other dogs took to kenneling right away. I never had a dog that resisted the kennel.  I have tried feeding her in it, giving her treats when she goes in it, and I have tried hiding treats in it at random so when she walks by or checks it out she gets a random treat by surprise.  I have removed the towel bedding she had in it to see if that helped, I have placed her kennel next to Dakota's (my older dogs) kennel (Dakota is almost always in kennel by her own choice if we are in the house) and I have placed her kennel in a different room from Dakota's kennel.  I have tried in the same room as I am in and in a different room but nothing seems to work.  Any new recommendations would be gladly appreciated

Each dog is different. I have a "den" made from a closet with the door removed that all my dogs LOVED, but Tessa won't go in it. She doesn't like the crate much either and never uses it on her own, but accepts it when I put her in. Before I got Tessa I had a puppy for a few days that was the worst "crate case" I have ever seen ... or heard ... she screeched non-stop to the point that I thought she would screech herself to death.

A friend of mine has a dog who hated the crate as a puppy, but now, 1 year old, absolutely loves it.

I would:

1. cover the crate with a sheet
2. make the crate smaller
3. not make a big fuzz over the crating
4. be patient

Also I would try
1. Giving her a kong filled with peanut butter so that it keeps her occupied
2. Ignore her when she whines when you get home walk into the room and don't look at her do a few things for 3-5 minutes and then let her out
3. Try leaving a radio or tv on in the room with her.
4. Leave a stuff animal in the crate with her (I know sounds silly but some dogs like the "companionship")

Be patient and good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions I couldn't list everything I have tried so just listed a few...I have tried most of those things suggested...I Can't make kennel any smaller it is the smallest kennel made, just for the few weeks she is a puppy she can barely turn around in it the way it is, it is not a wire kennel, it is plastic so it is very "den like" already, covering it wouldn't really do anything except cover up the 15-20 dime size holes on the side...would a wire crate possibly help because its more open? I have tried the kong thing too but she doesn't touch it unless I am home with her (it worked one time then no more). lol. Ignoring her usually makes her louder and more obnoxious which is normally when she relieves herself in the crate. I am leary of the stuffed animal thing because I have children who have lost a few of their favorite stuffed animals already so not sure I want to put anymore to the test or condone/promote her destroying stuffed animals...lol...I can try the radio/tv thing and see if that helps...I am using just about every last bit of patience I have...lol...but all my other dogs took to crating so easily I am just wondering if there is a more non conventional way to get them to accept it...I am not so much worried about urinating in the crate as it seems to be an issue of her accepting the crate...when she accepts it everything is fine (no peeing in crate) when she doesn't accept it everything goes haywire(lake of urine in the crate)...thanks again for the suggestions...willing to try almost anything I haven't tried already at this point.

Not all GSPs can be crate trained Rocky is one example. From 10months to 12 months, Rocky was in GSP Rescue. When placed in a kennel or crate, Rocky would urinate on himself, bite on the kennel resulting in broken off canine tooth. Rocky has a perminant tear in his right ear flap when he was trying to break out of the kennel. Would rub his nose till the front was red raw. So needless to say Rocky ended up in a forever home where he would live as an in house companion dog only. No crate, No kennel allowed.  Rocky lives wonderfully sleeping on his dog bed which is in our bedroom. Built him a nice privacy fence for him in our backyard. We have soft bathroom white throw rugs for Rocky to lay on as he chews his bones. So just want to share some dogs are not crate trained and do just fine. Actually they do better than if they were crate trained.

Two of my three are fine in a crate. However, my oldest, Belle, has broken out of every kind of crate I could find. I finally told her no more when she broke out of what is called a gorilla crate because it is so strong. The bars looked like superman had gotten a hold of them. I believe Belle is claustrophobic as she also gets extremely tense in small spaces. Thankfully, she is fine in the house. I am not suggesting that your pup is claustrophobic, but like Marie said above, I believe there are some dogs that fail crate training whle there are others who love their crates. All the suggestions you were given are good. Good luck!!
