One of these days, I'll have the camera ready to take video of Layla at her slobby best. She comes racing in from playing outside, shoves her whole muzzle into the water dish & sucks & slurps until half of the water splashes on the floor. Then she races over to the food dish, grabs a mouthful of kibble and chews it as she races back outside, dribbling most of the kibble on the floor as she goes.
The water thing is kind of a pain, since it's such a mess (especially if she has muddy paws already from this incessant rain!), but the food thing is just funny. The neighbor's dog lets himself into the house every day just to help me clean up the kibble bits on the floor.
Anyone else have a sweet, silly slob?
I have two slobs, Ringo and Belle. They both do the thing with the water. Makes a mess, but I bought a throw rug that I put their dog bowls on and that catches most of the water. It is washable too so if it gets dirty it goes into the laundry. The throw rug is 4 X 6 because the slop zone is pretty big.
Slop jaws hold lots of extra water, and don't you know it is fun to let water run through those slop jaws.
Willow is our pig. Both when drinking water and when eating her dry food. It falls out of her mouth all over the place! At least she usually goes back and cleans up after herself. Interestingly, that seems to be a heriditary thing - or at least I can tell you that she passed it on to all the boys in her first litter. For some reason, not the girls...
Hi yes my Rocky drinks the same way, sometimes its seems like he is blowing bubbles .He puts his whole head in the water when swiming and looks around for sticks .Its so funny to watch. (been far east)
Ditto for Buddy, my remedy was, he only gets to drink outside from a water bowl, he drinks half and slobs the other half. Inside I trained Buddy to go to the sink in the bathroom, I turn on a small stream of water, he jumps up on his hind legs and drinks like a little gentleman, no mess to clean up. Buddy hasn't drank out of a bowl in the house for maybe 6 months now, it's really saving on my paper towel budget.
