We compete with our dogs in dock jumping competitions. So we did some water practice today at our pond.
First up is Tundra:
Then Annie. She is my newest dog who we got in February. Right now she just runs as hard as she can off the end of the dock. No watching for the toy! LOL This was her first time swimming with out her life jacket as well!
And one of my husbands dog Rajah. He set a personal best jump and a breed record jump just a few weeks ago with a 23'7" jump at 8 years old!
We have one other dock jumper Phoenix but she is recovering from an ear infection so I decided it wouldn't be a good idea to jump her right now! Maybe next weekend. |

LOL. Tundra is all muscle with not an ounce of fat on her little body! She never stops moving if she is outside too. She is a great dog in the house but a real go getter when it comes to any kind of sport. Her theme song is 100 in a 55 by Pop Evil. Part of it says "I'm going 100 in a 55 and don't know why I'm still alive...." That is the way she is! LOL.
Thanks for the comments. We love doing this with the dogs. We have had some people say they won't train a hunting dog to do this but Tundra and Phoenix both know the difference between dock jumping with entering the water and hunting time to enter the water. |

Slightly off topic, but thought you all might like to see photos of the "big dogs" in the water this past weekend. When it gets to be 105+F, we look for rides like this where the horses can shed their tack and swim. Very cool!
The first one is Blair and Jackson, second one is me with Flash.

Great dock jumping pictures!! Fred loves to do that the only thing is he has to wear his life jacket. The other problem is finding a dock to do it on. Your dogs can really fly thanks for sharing the pictures! |

Love the pictures of the dock dogs. I am going to the beach this weekend and my uncle has a pier on the bay. I am going to see if I can get Halo and Ringo jumping. I think Halo will do it, not sure about Ringo. We will see. I will also get pictures of all three swimming.

Not very many places in AZ, that's for sure! That's across the interstate from Black Canyon City, which is not a remote area but I had no idea the river actually held enough water for a horse to swim until I saw it with my own eyes  . It's amazing how buoyant horses are. In comparison, most dogs aren't terribly good swimmers their first time, but horses always are.

| I have Appaloosas so know the love of horses thing. I haven't been swimming with my horses in FOREVER. Wish I could do that. But our pond is a bit deep and it isn't a gradual deep. Kind of an immediate deep! |

HI GREAT JUMPING What kind of camara are you useing?The color and action shots are wonderful. I want to get anew one .I have to remember to take mine along when Rock goes swimming.My baby dottie loves the tub but has not been to the lake yet.Iwas going to the ukc show in kzoo but didnt make it .I would love to see them jump maybe next time good luck and have a ball .(been far east) |

Amazingly, that was only about 30 minutes north of Phoenix. Had no idea water like that could be found so close! It would be a really great place to work dogs except that you'd have to hike in with them and the switchbacks are pretty hairy. Funny, but I'm actually more comfortable next to dangerous drop offs on a horse than on my own two feet  Go figure.
