Ya ... our guys only wear collars when they are off leash ... they are nudey in the house and either wear a harness or hound collar (kind of like a martingale, just wider) for walks/runs.

Thank GOD you were there to save the poor little one. We had Hunter on a chain a long time ago and he jumped over the fence and was hanging there with his feet barely holding him up. No more being chained up for mine. Scary!

So glad she is okay. As others mentioned, my girls only wear collars when walking. They never wear them inside.

Lil update on Lily we went to play with her big brother which a family member owns and she was not her "puppy" self very timid. She stays closer to Jaymes and I and something make her jump now. We noticed on one side of her face it is a little more droopy then the other something we didn't notice at the vet... I am thinking of taking her back and getting that examined. Thank you all for your wisdom!

One side of her face looking different than the other makes me worry about stroke. May just be that there is residual swelling and that's why it looks funny, but I'd at least call the vet and ask.

I agree with Jean.  It could be stroke, swelling or nerve damage, but I think you definitely need to let a pro take a look at her again.

Thank goodness she is OK!!!
Even flat collars can do this, I do not wear collars around the house anymore. Several years ago, my bf's 2 girls were playing outside.....next thing he is screaming for me. One got her teeth hooked into the others collar (both collars were fitted properly) and somehow twisted around. The collar was VERY tight on her jaw & choking the other dog.
Luckily I had rose snips handy & we cut the collar off & both dogs were OK. just shook up. Scary stuff!!

Zodiak, that is exactly what happened to us except I had no rose sheers and no time to go and find rose sheers though.

How is Lily doing?  Just wondering if she was still having any issues or if all is ok.

Her gums are still very white. But she is eating really good, she can run around and not be panting, the swelling in her throat is gone, and her face is no longer swollen. The gums is the only part I am still waiting for to turn back to normal. If it will... We got our collars today! We love them. Thank you Texas Belle! Q? Where do you place these collars on your dogs neck and where do you put the ring? I know it probably doesn't matter where the ring is but I wana be safe! We got the ones that do not have the leash or id tag ring and when they are on a leash they will have the "leash" collar on them. Thank you all for your encouragement and wise words!

I put them right behind the ears and tighten them to where I can slip two fingers under the collar. Of course, they slip down no matter what on our dog's skinny necks, but that doesn't seem to bother my guys, just me. The buckle and ring will slide around, but I general put the buckle under their chin side which leaves the ring more or less on top.

Forgot to say, I am glad she is doing better. Poor puppy. That was scary for her and you. Again, I am so glad her symptoms are going away. I am sure the gums will start improving too soon.

Okay! Good to know. We got the Polyurethane Coated Nylon because we like the bright colors, the anti smell, and water resistance. I didn't want to get the ones with the second ring that you can clip a collar to (just yet anyways). Since the only time they will be wearing these in out in the fields (when they have no leash collars on), out in the water, and when we are out riding. Again Thank you. We feel a lot safer now. In fact Jaymes mom who owns a GSP and a Lab bought them and our other family members are to now :)

If you need to put a leash on these collars just clip it on the ring (that way you don't need a second ring). I clip with the side that opens on the clip up so the clip can't easily open and release. At hunt tests and such I will put the collars on and then clip the leash on and it works fine.

Okay. Good to know. I didn't want to clip it to the ring before inquiring about it with you. We are gunna leave them nude in the house and fenced back yard but when do you let your two wear them?

Ringo is wearing his all the time in bird school with the trainer. It has a name plate and my contact info on it (no tags). It is bright orange. The girls are wearing their flat leather collars that buckle around the house and backyard. They wear their hunting collars when we go swimming, they go to doggy daycare, hiking, etc. Basically any outdoor activity away from home. Theirs also have nameplates on them, so again they don't have to have tags.
