| What do you think about her Beth? I for one could care less about having black ones in AKC. If they are allowed in GER where the breed was formed than bring them on! |

I love her. I really like her conformation. She was a bit butt high for a while and now has evened out. Here is her 7 month pic. Once again sorry about the shadow on her head! She has her dad's conformation that is for sure. Her mom was a nice looking girl but her dad is a great dog over all and a show Champion along with a NAVDHA dog. I think a VC. She is really starting to fill out too. Wich is nice. Right now she is 22" and about 42 lbs. This picture really makes her head look HUGE cause of the shadow and it really isn't. But I haven't made the hubby photo edit that shadow out yet.

I am a GSPCA member and will vote for black to be allowed. I love the color. |

Very nice. Better on the back end. The hocks are much more perpendicular. She is very nice. I too like the blacks and black and whites. I always vote yest to allow. Hopefully it will pass this year. Just love those gangly teenagers. |

Just some kindly advice, After your stacking her, you might want to kneel down. I do this, because it gives you a better view of where her leg placement is. In the above pic, her back leg placement is good, but shes posting in the front. When your showing her ,you always want to be able to see your dog as the judge can. When your kneeling it allows you to see her leg placement, and make adjustments if needed

| I also like to pull straight back on her tail once I have her stacked the way I like. It lets them shift their weight forward a little and settle into a balanced stance. |

RE advice on kneeling down. Many judges don't like this and prefer to see the dog free-stacked. There is one fellow, an ex-handler, who doesn't judge much any more...but in his ring, some folks would be standing, others down with their dogs. He'd say, "okay, let's move the dogs...handlers, just keep your present position." This resulted in many smiles and finally his letting the handlers get back up on their feet, but it did convey the message. Let me see the DOG, not you correcting visible faults. |

Bev, I didn't really read the thread and notice that Ringo's daddy is Fritz. As is our Finleys. He has legs for days too. |

What do yall think about Duke? He's definitely not conformation bred (one dual champion way back I think) but I did have a weim. person tell me he was finishable at a field trial. I know its not the best stack or picture but hey, its hard to keep a puppy still with only one person. I think he was around 9-10 months in the first picture and 11 months in the second.

First, Duke is a very nice solid liver boy. In the first picture he obviously is very nervous and tense. His front legs are posting, meaning his looks like he is leaning back. Also, his tail is very tight. If you want to show him, you need to work with him to relax him when he is stacked. That just takes allot of practice and make it fun. I would recommend maybe a confirmation class.
I don't see anything in the pictures that would disqualify him in the ring. That said though, if he doesn't relase and show some of that normal GSP charm he might not catch the judges eyes. Showing is all about presenting your dog in the most favorable light that you can. Some days your dog will stand out to some dogs and some days they don't, but if you can't get your dog in a nice pleasing stack even the most perfect GSP won't win.
The second picture he looks allot better although his tail is still down. Is there something that really excites him. If so, use that in baiting him. It doesn't have to be food. I use a laser pointer with Halo and she thinks that is the greatest reward of all.
Just keep practicing with him. The more confidence you get, the better he will look as well as he will pick up on your emotions. |
