Halo is 3 YO and is a large bitch at 23 inches and 52 pounds.  She has always been very agile and fast and her stamina is unbelievable.  I have had some say she has too straight a front, but that was when she was 1 YO.  She was a late bloomer and didn't come into season for the first time until she was 2 YO.  I pulled her out of the ring at 1 YO as she was not as developed as the other bitches and did not compete well with them.  I put her back in the ring about a year ago (age 2 YO), and now she holds her own (she is one major away from finishing).

Ringo is 25 inches and 60 pounds and although not as agile as Halo was at this age he certainly has the stamina. I would guess that the size would not have much impact in general on endurance as long as the dog was not over weight and was in good condition.

My oldest female, Belle, is a very large female (she is actually just outside the standard) at 24 inches and 57 pounds.  She is now 5.5 YO.  She is also faster than Halo on a straight course and has just as much endurance, she is not as agile though.

They all three run together when I take them out hiking and I have seen very little difference in their endurance levels.  The real test for my crew is when I take them hiking in the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico.  We spend a week hiking about 5 miles a day and although tired at the end of the day, they are always ready to go the next day. So far, only Halo and Belle have been mountain hiking.  It will be interesting to see how Ringo does.

Bruns -  Trego and Halo are built allot alike.  How old was Trego in those shots?

She is 3.5 years in the first shot when she finished her CH and just over two years in the second shot with me handling her. I first showed her at 14 months and she was alright mature wise, but was still a handful and I was a first time handler and had never even been to a conformation class.

Trego is 23 inches and 48 pounds the pup is 23.5 and already weighs 51 and is pretty darn skinny. She will probably weigh about 55 when filled out.

Well since there are no comments I will assume that Trego is perfect and will be quitting my job and campaigning her the rest of the year on the show circuit.

Bev,

I love Ringo's markings, very flashy! It's interesting to me when you said Halo was considered a large female. Terra, my solid liver is the same size as Halo. When I showed her, she was by far the smallest bitch in the ring.

Matt,

I think Trego is a bautiful bitch. IMO you actually present her better than the handler who has stretched her out very far behind.

Here's Terra taken  summer 2007 at 5 years, 23" 52 lbs. Maybe being solid makes her appear smaller next to a bright ticked bitch? I don't know. She's the perfect build for what we do, agility, flyball and field mostly. Her daughter, Rayne at almost 8 months is slightly shorter and very skinny, maybe 45 lbs. She and Terra are the same speed on a straightaway but Rayne corners better and is more agile. I'm hoping for great things from Rayne in the show ring and agility. Time will tell....

I'll work on getting a stacked of baby, Rayne.

Terra looks great in that photo. I have a soft spot for the solid livers. I did some agility with Trego when she was younger. She was fast and liked it, but I got tired of not being able to go when she would go into heat. The weave poles are where we got stuck in our schooling

I agree with what Gail said about Trego and being stretched back too much in the first picture.  I could tell Matt that you were a rookie handler though because of the way you are grasping Trego's tail. I actually think Trego is a nice looking female and was happy to see another one that looked very similar to Halo.  I wouldn't quit my day job, but I think you have a very nice bitch and she would certainly do well as a special.  Of course, you would have to get past all the pros out there that are doing it as their day job.

Gail - The standard for bitches is 23 inches and 60 lbs.  Down in Texas there are allot of little bitches in the 21 inch range.  Which when Halo shows with them they make her look big. I personally prefer Halo's size to the little ones, but that is my personal preference.  I always say with Halo it is feast or famine.  The judges either love her and she wins or is reserve, or they put her at the end of the line.  I have always felt it had to allot with her size.  Just an observation on my part.

I probably grabbed her tail when they tossed that fury little squeaker toy and Trego about pounced on it. You can tell I have a pretty firm grip on her head as her eyeballs looks like she is pulling against a choker chain.

Bev,

Terra is the smallest of my 3 mature girls. I finished the elder 2 myself as a rookie handler. Moka is 24" tall and 62 lbs. Avery is 23 1/2" tall and 56 lbs. They are both dark ticked though not solid liver. Even though, the standard is nation wide, my dogs never looked big in the ring. If they were in Texas, they'd be giants, I guess.

Can you guys give me some input on Phoenxi? I know she is the "wrong" color for AKC but I am showing UKC. I have had judges give me some great feedback on her. These are 6 month stack pics. I have a nicer one of her 7 month stack but I don't have it on photobucket. Thanks!

It's so hard to see everything in a photo, but I'll try to point out the things that pop out at me,,, I can't see her head to well, but it seems to be proportionate. She has nice shoulder lay back, and nice top line, and nice tail set. She's not too long, and has good rear angulation. I can't see her feet very well, so it's hard to say. I also can't tell by the photo, if she has adequate bone, or if she's fine bone. I hope this helps, of course this is just my opinion.

I know it isn't the greatest of a photo. Our lighting in our house stinks. Compared to the other GSP's we have had she isn't fine boned like they were but not the HUGE bulky bone like I have seen in some GSP's as well. I am hoping to get into a handling class with her at some point or at least go to a friends house to help me work her this summer. Thanks for the comments. :-)

Beth she looks very well put together. If I had to complain it might be her rear is stacked back too far, her hocks should be stright up and down to the floor. The other would be she might have a shorter upper arm length, but she looks very balanced and proportioned. I agree with laura on the nice laid back shoulder and topline, and tail set. Nice stack for a six month pup.

Very nice overall picture.  Looks very nicely proportioned.  I had the same comment Matt did about the hocks being to far back, but that looks to be a stacking issue not and issue with Phoenix.

Now we just need to get everyone who likes the black and black and white to joing the GSPCA and vote the black and black and white into the standard.

If you don't agree, please don't lynch me as I am entitled to my opinion and I happen to like the black and black and white.

Yes she is stacked too far back in this pic. But it was the newest one I had in Photobucket! LOL. She has a better stack in her 7 month pic. Thanks for the comments guys. I like having other people look at the pics and comment so I can work on improvements!
