We have a deposit on a Fieldfine Kennels GSP puppy that would join our home this Summer.
I have done much research on the breed and I'm pretty sure the energy level/temperament is similar to the Vizsla's.
Does anyone have both, I'm curious about the differences or similarities that anyone can tell me about.
We decided to get a GSP instead of another Vizsla because we won't be getting another dog for a long time and thought we would enjoy the experience of a different breed.

Thanks for your quick response!
I'm glad to hear you think the Vizsla is more high strung because at 10 months of age we already have a handle on our little boy. He is such a great dog and I love his energy, it makes him alot of fun to be with.
My husband goes duck hunting once or twice a month but on a daily basis I go on long walks/runs/biking with our Vizsla. I also have lots of ball throwing sessions with him, he insists on it!
I work at home and have two kids so we're always around and he has a great life!
We also go to the dog beach and the dog park alot. We live in S. Florida so the weather is nice year round.
I'll definitely post pictures of the two when we get the pup.

welcome SBelle! I have a Fieldfine pup too, she'll be three in June. She is my first GSP and the best decision of my life. If you have a handle on your vizsla already then you know what you're doing. I can't ever remember meeting a viszla long enough to pet it and get to know it, they always seem to be running away as quickly as they come. I think maybe your GSP will be a little more like velcro, but Lacey only did that after she turned two. Good luck, and post some photos. |

Thanks MyDogisCrazy.
I'm glad to hear from someone with a Fieldfine dog who is happy!
I talked to alot of breeders and found them to be the ones I really felt comfortable with.
We have been training and working with our Vizsla since he was about 10 weeks, consistency is so important.
I'm hoping to do the same with the GSP.
We are getting a female GSP, our Vizsla is a boy so I'm hoping a female might be more submissive with him.

Welcome S. Belle, and congrats on your upcoming GSP !!!!! I also agree with the above posts, Vizslas do tend to be more high strung than GSP'S,so I think you should be very prepared owning the Vizsla first. It sounds like your prepared in knowing what kind of activities these dogs require. Just like the Vizlas, they do need a lot of exercise. By the way,,, GSP's are like " TATER--CHIPS" You just can't have one !!!!!!!! HA !!! |

Southern Belle, I have a 8-month old female from Jubilee, her parents came from Fieldfine (Chance x Abby). Wonderful dog all around, and very well balanced (mentally and physically). There are other Jubilee/Fieldfine pup on this forum as well. Where in the South are you? |

I have both, they are similar yet different. My GSP is a clown but can be more serious, while my Vizsla is out for a good time and quite mischevous. The GSP is high speed, the Vizsla is hyperdrive Both require physical, as well as mental exercise to keep them out of trouble.
I wouldn't consider Vizsla's high strung, they're high energy. |

I'm from Boca Raton, FL.
I saw Jubilee's website, their dogs are very beautiful. I'm so glad to get the positive feedback on the Fieldfine dogs, I feel even better about my choice to go with them now.
My Vizsla will be so excited to have a permanent playmate, it will be so much fun when the puppy arrives! |

stlbirddogs, you're right about the Vizslas, they are always up to something. If it's quiet and I don't see mine anywhere then I know there's trouble!
I hope my Vizsla won't wear the GSP out too much, I know it will take him a few months of growing to match the play level of the Vizsla. My boy can be a little rough with puppies (not in a mean way, just in a I don't know my own strength way), so I will have to keep a close eye. |

Hi Southern Belle, I also have a fieldfine, he'll be 2 years in June and is an AKC Champion. He is a great dog and what a love he is. From what litter are you looking at? I thought about getting another Fieldfine this summer. Great decision on the kennel! |

Hi Coop,
We are hopefully going to get one from the Sasha x Ace litter.
We are not a show home so we have to wait and see how many companion dogs are available, but it's likely it will work out.
Who are the parents of your dog? |

Hi Southern Belle, I also have two pups from the Fieldfine lines. Our male is out of Thyme x Chance and the female is out of Abby x Chance. Could not be happier with them, temperament is outstanding, they compete in shows as well but are wonderful house dogs. Can't wait to see some pictures -Caroline |

Hi SB, You will love the temperament's that fieldfine produces, SASHA is littermate to Flame who is the #1 dam of the year of 08. Ace is a beauty, he was the #1 sire of the year of 08, #1 sporting dog of 08 and #2 breed of the year 08. If you go to their website they have their pedigree listed. You are not going wrong with a fieldfine. They are full of love! |

Southern Belle - Welcome to the forum! I'll bet you can't wait to get your new GSP pup. Please do post pics of your Vizsla - we love all dog pics here, although we're partial to GSP ones. I used to dog sit a Vizsla for a friend while I had my first GSP and my boxer. Talk about a house full of active dogs! I, too, found the Vizsla to be a bit more hyper and barky than my GSP, but she was a great dog and the three of them got along really well.

| I also have had a field fine bred female out of Jubilee's Chance x Abby cross. She was very much a lover and snugler, more laid back in the field then my other 6 GSP's but still worked consistantly while I had her. Fieldfine has been with this breed for many years and knows what they are doing, you are in good hands with them. |
