Hello all (again)
I had so many responses about our "found GSP" that I thought I'd give the rest of the story.
The dog WAS picked up by his owner today. He WAS with a hunting party. Here is the slightly amazing part. The people who own him are from the state of TN (we are in Nothern MN)!!! He was a lllooonnggg way from home. He had gotten separated from them around 10:30 AM. He was lost THIRTY miles from where we found him (in town 12:30 PM). So our best guess is he made his way to the highway and was picked up by a passer-by and brought to town.
The vet tech DID use the serial # on his Tritronics e-collar to locate the owner. A call to Tritronics provider her a name and state but SHE invested the time to call multiple names.
She wanted me to pass along this info : If you are hunting "out-of-state" PLEASE fill out a permitt identifing any dogs you are using. That way, should this situation arise, a simple phone call to the state returns your dog.
So there is the whole story. Thanks again for all the support.
WOW that is a long way from home. I am so glad this was a good ending.
