| Yep!! All my guys are dual pointed and HT titled as well as shown. I also hunt extensively-upland and some waterfowl, with them and guide on a local preserve. |

That didn't take long..... I respect the opinion, don't necessarily agree but respect the opinon...I'll go back years to some old guy who told me to avoid show stock like the plaque.. I ignored his advise only once and paid the price... Never again though, I'll stick with the field stock for my personal preferences...
Again I'm a hunter and love the interaction with a dog..In my circle I've never seen a show dog that could compete with field stock. Never, but then I'm always waiting to be proven wrong!!!!!
Everyone has their opinion and GSP's are a wonderful breed that can do almost anything.. I'd rather hunt them versus look at them...
I hate to detract from the original post, as I love the pup!!! I'm sure the owners will enjoy her for years to come...

No one can make you a "political outcast" except yourself. And fwiw, there is not one thing wrong with conformation, performance and the field. That is what Dual Champions, or maybe even Triple Champions are made of.

I do as many things with my dogs as time allows, obedience/rally, conformation, field trials and hunt tests, flyball, agility, tracking, and therapy dog work.
Can you spell V E R S A T I L E ?
At a minimum all of my dogs get obedience titles. Halo and Ringo will also (hopefully) get their conformation titles and someday their MH, but certainly their JH. I also plan to try both in field trials, and do bird hunting with them. Belle is my therapy dog and works with kids at the Austin State Hospital. All three do agility, flyball, and if mom can find the time tracking. This is probably the only breed around that can do all those things and do them well. What a shame it would be to limit them to one thing when they are so good at so many things. |

We did the breeding to produce dual puppies/dogs - my husband wouldn't be working her on birds if he wasn't planning on hunting her
We want dogs that fit that standard and I walk into the show ring with as well that can preform what the breed is meant to do - hunt. She isn't available but she has a brother that is

Being the political "outcast" on this forum.. Forget about "cute".. I love the intensity of the point.. This pup is meant to hunt!!!! To me it would be a shame to doom this pup to a life of conformation and show as GSP's were bred to hunt... (that comment ought to get some members going)
Sell me the pup to me and let her hunt!!!!!! She's a lot more than just "pretty"...
Great pick of the litter!!!!

Hey Hey dgrracing, some of us do both hunt & conformation. I believe that it's important to breed dogs that can still perform what they were bred for, but also with that I believe it's important to breed for the dogs proper conformation, because without that proper conformation the dog can't hunt to it's best ability

Thanks for the complements on the pup - hopefully these pups will do both - conformation and hunt - I'll post pics of her brother later - I've been under the weather the last few days - and the trainablitly with these babies is impressive, of course I am coming over from mastiffs LOL

I knew they were related....just wasn't sure if it was through Pidg. Snip is then a half-brother to my Bull, Mac and Moon (little more than half actually).
Bit more distantly related to my Buck, have to go back 3 generations or so(my Buck doesn't go back to Pidg...he is mostly Rugerheim breeding, more related to Baby).......Taras' a Buck (my Buck...not Babys' sire Buck) puppy to a PalmGlades female.

Hi Beth & welcome to the wild & wonderful world of shorthairs! My only advice is that a tired pup is a good pup!
You can add pictures by uploading them to a free service like photobucket & linking to them from there. Photobucket has an { IMG } code you can copy & paste directly into the message, no muss & no fuss.
Good luck! |
