Ok I have a strange problem I hope someone can help me with!  I have 2 GSP boys (ages 2 and 3) and a female Lab (age 8).  The 3 year old, Baron, was a rescue from an abuse situation when he was a puppy and has always been at the bottom of the pecking order.  Kasey, the Lab, has always been at the top.  Well recently we have noticed that every time Kasey goes to the bathroom, Baron runs up to her and hikes his leg right on her back!  Yesterday I looked outside and saw her just sniffing the ground and he did it.  She doesn't pay any attention to him so she either doesn't care or doesn't notice.  Can anyone provide any insight to why he might be doing this, or how I can stop it???

Well he obviously wants to be the bossy one now doesn't he?? Intervene, you are the only leader in your pack and there isn't room for another one. Let him know right away the next time this happens that that is a behaviour that you will not allow. Be calm about it, that means no yelling and no hysterics :D, but let them know that you are the leader and that you really believe it.

Is she spayed? That sounds like a marking thing to me. Gotta ecollar? Use it....

Yeah we were thinking about getting an e collar. My only fear is that he will be confused if he's punished while using the bathroom outside?? And, yes she is spayed and they are both neutered.

My male GSP was doing this to our female Bluetick too but not all the time. You could kinda tell when he was going to do it - we would just tell him NO and after a couple of times he stopped doing it

I would keep an eye on her for a uti, sometimes if they have an infection they can smell a little confusing to the oposite sex

I would be careful about using an e-collar for this reason. If the dog believes the shock is coming from the other dog you could have problems. Right now you have no problems.

I agree with Pixie on the ecollar.  If the dog doesn't know what you are correcting for, not telling how they will interpret the zap.  You could create a much bigger problem.
