She is gigantic! Geesh. I remember with Tundra just laying my hand on her belly and feeling the pups move around. Then after they were born and we had to bring them into hte vet to get stuff like claws done and we covered them with a towl.I put my hand on them again when they were in the laundry basket with the towl over them and it felt the same. Kind of cool. Can't wait to see pictures of those cute little boogers!

October 25th, 29th. The vet didn't think she took (which she was right) So again on November 1st and 2nd.

Baileys teats just started lactating so that is a good sign... I am excited to hear what people think that means in how many days :)

BTW for some reason the site isn't letting post my own forum anymore... strange...

So she just now is getting milk. Okay, I'm going with either New Year's Day or January 2. Are you still taking a temp in the morning? The morning she gets up and says, "I'm not eating this stuff" will be the day. It is a given.

I think the Christmas Day thing was just moving things into place. She's a first time mom, right?
Sometimes that takes a bit longer. When she looks like a goat and you can see backbone...yep. :D
Good luck, kiddo~

Well hate to tell you but she looks like a goat and you can see that little piece of back bone cause her belly is weigh en her down.... This is her second litter (her first was very successful) we still are taking temp. At the vet yesterday it was 98.7 and when she felt around she said she was in such good condition that their was no worries of c-section. So temp really doesn't work for her. Right now she is laying in her whelping box cashed out. Poor girl. Her abdomen is still pretty soft... We will just have to be patient.

The goat look usually starts in about 5 days ahead, so sounds like you are good to go. I have to agree with you about the temp thing too, it seldom does work, but kind of gives you some indication at least. :)
And my Amie (my GSP foundation bitch) never skipped a beat as long as she had plenty of sugar donuts and half and half between puppies. Didn't want to eat for about 4 hours ahead of time, but as soon as puppies were done and tucked in, then back to the broth, etc :)

Have fun and enjoy the whelping time!

Our girl gobbled her food down the morning of puppies so that didn't work. And she started whelping at 11 am. Her breakfast was at like 8 am. But I guess there is always one who can throw things off :-)

I am very excited to see these little guys.

I don't put much stock into it either. I think for smaller dogs is more on point but with big breeds (especially with 12 pups) her body is adjusting so much and so often.

Bailey hasn't touched her food this morning, she is spending a lot of time on her rear, and is staying in her whelping box. So we will just wait and see.

Me too! If I'd known the dates, bailey was bred before voting, I would said January 3rd.

I have been watching this thread and the original one for days now checking several times a day even at work! :) Poor Bailey - she must be beside herself waiting for those darn puppies to appear. Hope she's doing ok. You mentioned that you had most of last week and all this week off from work, presumably assuming the puppies would be born last week. How are you going to manage? Hopefully you'll have some help once they pop! Maybe you can take some FMLA time off work? After all, our furkids are family, too.

Life is not complete without a dog!
