...This past summer, the price went up from $39.99 (cdn) for the largest bag to $52.99 to $69.99 now...

Holy smokes, and I thought *my* feed bills were high! My last order of 6 #40 bags of Eagle power came out @ $35.32/bag (US). The one I had to buy at the local pet store to tide me over until the order came in was more like $46 though. In talking about dog food prices with other mushers, it seems like dog food in the NW is higher than anyplace but Alaska because we're so far from the manufacturing plants.

I am feeding TLC as well. Free delivery to you door aside it is an excellent quality food...and I am REALLY picky about ingredients!

Remington is never very excited about it...but I have no idea whether he is just one of those guys that just doesn't like the fact that he has to take time out of his busy day to eat meals, or if there is just something in it he doesn't like the taste of *shrugs*. But I haven't been able to find anything else that comes even close to the ingredient list...so that's what it's gonna be for a while. He has been fed this since puppyhood and has done really grown really well.

We have a 5 y/o and 8 month and they both get Diamond Naturals Chicken and Rice, it cost about $28 for a 40 lbs bag. Use to feed the adult Lamb and Rice Naturals, but wanted the same food for the pup and adult. I think Diamond Naturals is decent food for the price would put it up against Pro Plan Performance and the like. I do agree that some of the more expensive foods are better quality like Eagle, Innova, Evo. I think a 7 month puppy is plenty old to switch to a good adult food. I still think alot of folks that have stool issues are feeding too much. My dogs have only had stool problems when they find something else to eat like bird seed or compost that produces problems. Find a decent food that you feel good about and can find easily and go with it. JMO

I home feed our dogs. Fresh veggies, fruit, some grains, dairy, and meat (organ, and meaty bones). They also get some kibble mixed to help boost the calories during the winter. It's alot to keep up with but they all thrive on it.
