Welcome to
shorthairs.net
Hey everyone! I'm new around here and wanted to say hey! I wanted to join this board to talk with others with German Shorthairs and read some discussions and posts. My husband and I are in the process of getting a GSP. We already have 2 mini Dacshunds (Buster & Jake). We've been talking about getting a bird dog for several years and have been reading, looking, etc. I've always liked the GSP's and we're finally getting ready to get one! My husband loves to hunt and he's anxious to get a bird dog he can take out with him. We live in Iowa, so we have some good hunting around here. Anyway, I have to make this kinda short since I have to get to work. But I wanted to say hi and hope to talk some more on here soon!
Also, here's a picture of our two boys:
Buster (left) is a chocolate and tan dapple....Jake (right) is a black and tan piebald. Both mini Dachshunds.
Cute little ones! Good luck with getting your GSP. They are wonderful bird dogs and companions. My neighbor has 2 minis too and my GSP'S don't know what to think of them. They run up underneath them and around their legs. It is quite funny to watch them play.
You'll find all kinds of good stuff on this site. Lots of experienced people who will try to help or answer your questions!! Welcome.
Cute dogs! Welcome to the forum, you'll learn a lot around here. Can't wait to see pics of the pup.
I will post pics of the pup for sure when we get him. We know we want a boy. We're going on Sunday to see the pups and meet the parents and their owner. They had a litter of 10 pups, 5 females and 5 males. But we're going to go up and look at the boys and pick one out. The boys are all liver and white, patched and ticked. Some have a little more ticking than others, but that'll come in as they get older too. But we're very anxious to go see the pups. Both parents hunt and the dad compete in various field events and competitions. Their mom's sire is Dr N's CJ and have champions on both sides of the pedigree. Their owner sent us pics of them at 3.5 weeks old pointing, so we're super excited about these pups and can't wait to go see them.
Welcome and good luck to you on finding a new pup
I wasn't sure where Thurman was either, but I mapquested it and it looks like you're a couple hours straight west of us, pretty much.
Yeah, my husband is pretty excited to get out there and hunt birds with our new pup once he's ready. Nice to meet everyone!
