Pretty Gsp! Hunting or training? We can't hunt them in Michigan :( I wish there were wild pheasants and quail up here. We do find pheasants occasionally that escape from game farms and end up where we hunt. They will run like crazy. Mocha is very wise to them!
The gang chases the doves from tree to tree here. Hunter even brought one alive that he caught. He was all prancing and strutting around with it! Mr proud!

We can't hunt them in NY so I taught Haiko to ignor them and in NJ I believe they are considered a song bird. HUH?
Are you allowed to bring the dog into the Wild Life Center?
She looks good, she has a pretty head.

Thanks, Francine, and Ace, I don't hunt, yet, so this was training and exposure.

This is at an educational and recreational wildlife center managed by the GA DNR, on 6,400 acres of land, and they do offer dove, small game, turkey and deer hunting. Dogs are allowed on a leash, I've always hiked the trails here with my dogs, hearing gunshots in the distance every time, but this was my first time near the fields.

NAVHDA has a chapter not far from here, and they train at Whispering Pines which offers dove, quail, pheasant and duck hunting. 37 WMAs in Georgia actually provide dove hunting opportunities, per DNR, with a daily bag limit per hunter of 15. Quail hunting is HUGE in south Georgia.

Tessa - Very nice dog and beautiful head.

We have tons of doves in Texas.  Belle and Halo catch them from time to time in the back yard and bring them to me alive too.  They are the big white wing doves.  We also have the smaller Mexican doves and ring neck doves as well.  There are hunting seasons for doves here too.

I have thought about setting up traps to catch the doves so I can train with them as they are so plentiful, but since I live in town the neighbours would probably squawk.
