Thanks for all of your input I really appreciate it. I just got back from the vet and she said that he was a little dehydrated, she mentioned he didn't seem to have a blockage in his G.I. tract and he had a pretty empty stomach. Her assumption is that he might have gotten into something and he's having a bad reaction to it. She also mentioned at worst he may have a bacterial or viral infection and , I mentioned the chiles he got into and she didn't thinkt hat was it either but I'm still leaning on that.  They said the best treatment would be to leave him at the vet for 24hrs. so he could have some IV's and observation but I could not afford the cost so the next best thing was to give him some shots, hydrate him with an IV and take him home with some pills and special vet dog food, I had no other choice but to go with that option.

They stuck an IV of sodium in his back and filled his back up with it so it looks like a camel hump. They gave him a B12 shot, a shot of Cerenia 60mg and a shot of metronidazole 250mg. To take home they gave me 6 cans of Vets formula Iams low residue intestinal dog food and some pills of said shots above. They told me to give them a call tomorrow for an update of his condition. Now I play the waiting game wich is very stressful because I'm so worried. I'm gonna keep him by my side all day today and tomorrow to observe him and keep him company.

I also did a fecal and parvo test on him to make sure it isn't parasites and I don't want to think of the other condition, I'll keep on updating as the day progresses.

Just to assure you finsol, I went thur a similar experience with Rocky a few years ago. Rocky was dehydrated too with possible parasites from somthing he may have eated out in field. Vet gave me a large carton of nutritional tube feeding that I had to spoon feed him thur out the day in small amounts. Also had about 3 different antibiotics I had to give him. Progressed the next 7 days on a special Vet prescribed diet. Rocky came thur just fine. But I know the worry you are having going thru this Keep the faith and you will do just fine and your GSP will too. Deeply in our prayers.  Marie and Rocky

The fluid in the back is called subcutaneous fluids in which they give fluid just under the skin.  It is a quick way to hydrate the dogs as they absorb the fluid very rapidly.  I used to have to do that for my cocker when she had kidney problems.  It is easy to do and very effective.  It should also make your pup feel better if he is even a little dehydrated.  Be patient with the other meds as it may take a little while to kick in.  Did your vet do a culture for the various bacteria?

The Cerenia is to stop the vomiting, the metronidazole is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacteria and parasites (it is used to treat Giardia among other things). If they did a fecal culture then they may also be testing for salmonella.  If they just looked at the fecal sample under a scope, then they are only looking for worms/parasites.

Good luck and we will be praying for you and your pup.

Good luck! I know how nerve-wracking this is. Try to keep in mind that dogs are tough and can live through a lot, and it sounds like Indy is receiving good care.

UPDATE:

Some good nws! This morning I got up and went over to Indy's kennel and he was laying down staring up at me so I thought he hadn't gotten any better and out of nowhere he gets up wagging tail and all very happy and excited to see me! He got a lot of his energy back and Isn't depressed anymore, after I gave him his pills I gave him half a can of the vet food and some water, he downed it all happily and wanted more so he's gotten his appetite back as well. I'm still keeping him from doing too many acitvities but he has done a 180 since yesterday. I'll keeep up all update as the day goes by, thanks againf or everyones opinions it really helped me through this crazy time.

Glad to hear your dog is better. I just saw this post today, so I got to read the bad and good news at once. I have lots of experience with doggie GI troubles and have always found that the most important thing is getting fluids into the dog right away. My vet always did the under the skin fluid thing and it made all the difference in the dog being able to recover. It allows them to stay hydrated but bypasses the whole GI system so it gets a chance to rest.

Now that Indy seems better you probably still want to be careful to limit the treats and rawhides until you know that your regular food is sitting well with him (her?) And then you don't want to re-introduce more than one new thing at a time. That just gives the system more of a chance to get back to normal. And you can figure out which thing might be not agreeing with him if symptoms re-occur. It's a PIA, but worth it to avoid the worry of a sick dog. Good Luck!

Pepto changed it's formula. Some vets know, some don't. It's one on the "don't give your dog" list as the new formula isn't terribly dangerous alone and in normal doses, but at higher doses or with NSAID's. you can run into trouble.

Just to add to Texas Belle's excellent description of the treatment -- Metronitizole isn't just an anti-biotic, it actually calms the lower GI. It's excellent for diarrhea in dogs and people. You can also get it for $4 at Walmart with a scrip from your vet.

Just so folks know, puking is very bad in dogs. OK, they all puke a bit. Too much water too fast, or eat too much of the lawn, they puke once. If they vomit more than once, or they are heaving with no production, or there is any other symptom, it's time to see the vet.

Very happy about the outcome!
