There was a story on the Today show about a man who was attacked by a bear in Washington state while biking with his GSPs.  Go to www.todayshow.com and click on the story about the man escaping the bear attack.  Probably some of you Washingtonians have been at this park.

I saw that Bear Attack story this morning when I flipped on the morning news!!!  Saw the Man and his courageous GSP's . So thankful that all are alive. And I have great hope the Man's arm will heal and soon be on his bike again with his GSP's.  I am sure his heart will be beating hard when he bikes that trail again no matter how many other bikers are with him

Yikes! Glad they're all ok! We used to live in Silverdale, WA, which is in Kitsap county before we moved to Everett, WA (north of Seattle). My husband was in the Navy, so we lived in WA state for 3 years. Every now and then at our apartment in Silverdale, we'd hear growling type noises from the timber behind our apartment complex. I always wondered what it was...cougar, bear, etc. Could have been any of those. I'm sure there were bear that lived down around us in Silverdale. When we lived in Everett, we all went camping up in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, waaay up in the mountains. I'm sure there were bear up there too where we were camping.

My parents live in the Silverdale area and before moving to Sacramento I lived there for two years. I use to ride my horse up in those woods and parks and saw bear several times, and a cougar once, but always from a distance. My dad made me carry a side arm in case (horse was trained on the gun). I came real close to one once while it was laying in tall grass at the edge of the woods. When It stood up to run it scared the you know what out of me! I didnt go out much more after that, I stuck to the arena or pasture. Beautiful area though, trees go on for ever it seems.
