Are shorthairs naturally so sweet that it transpires to their smell? I mean, yes most of the time they stink as dogs do, but both of the shorthairs I've had also had a sweet smell to them. Andy's head tended to smell like Captain Crunch cereal whenever she woke up and Michigan's either smells like dark chocolate or a spiced coffee cake.
The unfortunate part is that I usually wake up with her butt in my face. lol.

I'm not sure what they smell LIKE...But I know Bean has a wet dog smell when she's sweaty & or wet....NATURALLY right ?
BUT when we travel in our 5th wheel, she sleeps with me up in the queen bed, and I find myself ( snuggling ) my face into her . I hadn't thought about it until I read your post...BUT she definately smells COMFORTING to me, and I think it is a kind of sweet smell....
I'll have to give her the sniff test here at home JUST not now >>> she just walked two hours in a sprinkling rain

Most of the time I just bury my nose in his neck. Whatever the smell is, it's intoxicating |

lol @ doritos.
that's probably the feet, mine smell like cornchips sometimes, too.
The sweet smell originates from the head, near the ears. |

| This is a GREAT thread! They all have their own smell. Mine do! The only think that smells Doritos about them is their feet, and I wonder why, tehe... I can tell who's in bed with me by their smell. |

I bathe mine every time the ladies have a therapy session, plus his blanket/pillow gets the used dryer sheets stuck under them all the time. SO since the shampoo is oatmeal with vanilla scent, he smells like vanilla dryer sheets. Carrie |

Really? Wow--you guys are lucky. I'm not exactly sure how I'd describe Otto's smell, but it certainly doesn't equate to the sort of thing I'd want to put in my mouth! Eau d' fish heads, perhaps? Blech! |

With regards to the feet smell, it's not exactly Doritos. I think it's Corn Nuts. Original flavor.

| This is a very funny topic. I was going to say corn chips too. I also love to smell them by the neck and ears. After a bath they have a very nice sweet smell and for a while after; whenever they get wet that smell comes back. I agree with the comforting scent. Maybe that's why they get our heart strings. Also, Hunter has what I would say is a silent but deadly gas emission from the plunger area!! |

| This thread is great! I'm not sure what Mae smells like... it's definitely comforting though! She's fabulous to snuggle with, but she snores - sometimes loud enough to wake me up! I will say that she gets a bath almost every other day though... gotta love that puppy curiosity! |
