Many people have posted questions about can a GSP handle being at home from 9 to 5 and it got me to thinking.

I work from home during the day so I thought it would be a hoot to give a general idea of what the dogs do during the day.

5:45 AM still sleeping in my kennel

6:AM start barking and hooting so none of my family sleeps through their alarm clocks

6:05 go outside for personal "business"

6:15 go for walk with mommy

6:45 - 6:46 breakfast

6:47 check the cat's food

6:48 check the ladies' food bowls

6:49 wash my paws in the water dish

6:50 check the toilets

6:51 check kids rooms make sure they are up

6:52 get kicked out of kids rooms

6:53 go check to see if mommy still loves me

6:54 go see if the girls love me

6:55 steal a stuffed animal from the kid who wouldnt pet me

6:56 drop the doll at mommy's feet and try the sad puppy eyes because she is mad at me for taking the doll

7:15 potty break

check property to make sure no one else has marked my territory

Bark at Bleau to make sure he is awake

Bark at Million to make sure he is awake

    look for frogs/bugs

7:40 kids leave

bark and tell them good bye

try to get onto/into the car/bus/van they are leaving in

Sit by the door looking for my girls

Kids are gone, time to bug the Ladies

nip Tasha's tail so she chases me around Mom's chair

8:00 AM naptime

8:05 scratch my ears, sniff Macey's behind again

8:45 roll over

9:00 follow mommy to the kitchen

    bark at the phone

    bark at the computer

    wake Macey and Tasha up

    look for Grey C (cat)

9:30 Mom back at her desk, sit on her feet so she can't move again

scratch my ears, sniff my own behind

9:35 naptime again

10:15 Bark at Tasha for waking me up, chase her around mom's desk.

find chew toy, give one to Macey, bark at Tasha for taking it.

10:30 sit on the back of the couch to stare out the window, let mom know when squirrels, rabbits, cars or birds tresspass

10:45 curl up with chewtoy on the couch and nap

12:30 Follow mom to kitchen beg for a bite of her lunch

sleep under her feet while she eats so I can get first dibs for crumbs

12:45 potty break

work on commands, sit, stay, etc

1:00 naptime

2:45 inspect the house and start watching for the mail-man, ups lady, Fed ex and kids buses

3:45 chase kids through the house and welcome them home. Sniff everyone's behinds to find out who they have been playing with, inspect book bags for any unfinished snacks or used kleenexes.

4:15 steal kid's unsupervised food wrappers and used kleenexes

Play with kids, and the ladies chase them around the house and back pasture

6:15 back in laundry room for dinner

6:45 potty break / trip to dogpark, walk, Doggy school etc.

7:55 last potty break

8:00 bedtime  Time to "kennel up"

run to make sure the ladies are tucked in

    look for Grey C

    Check the ladie's dogfood

    Check the catfood

That is SO it!! Not sure if it is just the GSP that are so high-maintenance, but they sure are!! I wouldn't change it, though! It's like having a second kid!

Thank you for posting this. I am pretty surprised to see the dog is kenneled from 8pm to 6am. That gives me a lot more confidence that we can manage one on our schedule.

Did you know dogs in the wild sleep 23 hours a day? They will wake up to hunt for food only. Our dogs have it good, we have to be their entertainment?
