is it something you can order from petmeds?....
thanks
I use Advantage (topical application) for fleas and Interceptor (tablet) for heartworms. If we had a tick problem I would switch to Advantix, but ticks aren't a major issue in our area. However, fleas are horrible and I can say that none of my furkids has ever had fleas using Advantage.
We use Revolution (topical) for our dogs. Vet prescribed in Canada, I'm not sure about the US. Protects against fleas, heartworm and lots more.
We are also using Revolution on our 11 week old puppy. It's a little different from Frontline/Frontline Plus and some of the others that are applied at the nape of the neck, in front of the shoulder blades. As I understand it, Frontline and others are applied topically in one spot, and then spread over the dog on the oil layer of the coat. It works topically. Revolution is applied to the same place as Frontline, in one spot, but it is absorbed transdermally (through the skin). It's absorbed into the bloodstream and works on heartworm and HELPS with some of the internal intestinal parasites. It works against fleas and mites by redistributing into the sebaceous glands, providing a topical resirvour to fight the complete life-cycle of fleas. I had a VERY hard time deciding, but went with Revolution, as I believe there is LESS exposure to the chemical topically (maybe something to think about if you have kids). However, I know a lot of people who have kids and use frontline plus with no problems. The downside of Revolution is that it only protects against American Dog Ticks, not any of the others.
