Is anyone watching this? Some of the owners make me cringe, but they seem like the ones who are getting eliminated in the beginning. I really wanted to root for the pointer mix, as I am biased towards pointers :) , but her owner is a little too cocky for my taste. Besides, they are pros and I like seeing the dogs that are just companions compete, it makes it more realistic and interesting.

My favorite is the boxer and his owner. They are both so sweet, and seem to have such a good bond. The owner seems like a genuinely nice guy who just adores his dog. He even got all teary-eyed when another dog got injured and he started thinking about how he would feel if it was his dog. It takes a real man to cry about his dog and talk baby-talk to it on national TV!

My other favorite is the older guy & his brittany spaniel. He has the same sort of relationship as Travis & Presley (boxer team) have, but Star (brittany) is older and they have had more time to develop a deep & lasting relationship.

The skateboarding bulldog is a hoot, too, of course!

I am VERY glad that the shrieky woman who manhandled her poor swet giant schnauzer and made her whimper in pain whe she grabbed her, has been eliminated. I hope she watches the show and sees how horrible she is to her dog. She said something ridiculous about having to be harsh because her dog is so smart. I wanted to slap her and tell her that her dog just needs stuff to do & think about and with a little respect and kindness she would be much better behaved. Grrrr...

I just happened to be channel-surfing last night and ran across the show - hadn't heard anything about it.  I wasn't sure what to expect, but I do like the fact that at least in last night's episode they seemed to be focused on basic commands (Sit, Stay and Leave It).  And it's always great to see dogs on TV.  I loved it when one of the judges, Victoria from the BBC dog show that's on Discovery Channel or Animal Planet (can't remember which), was reprimanding the owner of the giant Schnauzer, mimicking what the woman was doing to her dog.  And the woman from NYC who put her dog in a dress was a hoot, too.  However, I'm maybe a bit too jaded to take any of these people at face value.  Too many reality shows and too many back stage revelations of manipulations by the shows' producers.  The boxer's owner who teared up seemed sincere, but he was doing it in front of a camera so who knows...  Sorry to be such a cynic.  Doesn't really matter - I'll probably end up watching the whole series anyway.  I'm definitely pulling for the pointer mix and the boxer (miss my old boxer a lot).

unowhoandwhy  - I agree, I like the older guy (being one myself) and his brittany, too.  I have to admit to a couple of tears when he had to take her to the emergency vet.  Of course, they didn't tell you it was just a scratch on one of her ears until later.

With all that blood I thought for sure it was worse! And yes, I did get teary-eyed. Stupid reality shows manipulating my emotions. ;) :P

My problem with all this is the sound issue is that considered one of the best ways reprimand a dog. Although I do admit she did it WAY too much! And grabbing the dog's muzzle until it cried out I got REALLY mad, I had my oldest watch this on the computer because I have caught her doing some of the same things this woman did so she could see how bad it looked!

Besides she could have gotten her dog to obey, and follow instructions a WHOLE lot better if she had let the poor dog run off some of that energy BEFORE the tests! I know we have to do that with Wachter, before a training session or work session. He has to run off his energy BEFORE we can command his attention.

I am voting for the woman who treats her dog like a Barbie doll to be GONE next week!!! She is one of the worst out there!!! Several people have commented to her about that and she had the audacity to argue with everyone including the judges about it!!! OMG someone PLEASE rescue that dog!!!! NOW I am not one to completely shoot down costumes and outfits on dogs, occasionally it is a good thing. I know that when we take Tasha to therapy session we do a short segment in a build-a-bear- outfit, but that is part of her "act" we dress her up like a princess or a fairy and she primps, dances then "strips" for the audience, butTasha only wears the costume when we are walking onto stage to perform.. THEN it is off, I use other decorations, I.E. bows, fancy collars, scrunchies etc... to make her pretty, but to have her in a heavy coat.. OUTSIDE in this heat!!! that is unconscionable!! The ONLY thing you even think about putting on a dog when it is hot is 1. a life jacket to help it in the water... or 2. drape him/her with a wet cloth to help protect from overheating/sunburning.

That Schnauzer lady was irritating all the other contestants and their dogs. Loved the judge that did the same to her. The pointer mix proved to be smarter than the owner who apparently could not tell the right paw from the left paw. Love the guy with the Brittany---they seem so comfortable together and I'm partial to old guys over the young ones anyway.

lol on old guys. Bill does seem like a sweetheart. I freely admit to beig partial to Travis (Presley the boxer's dad) because he's dreamy AND wonderful with his dog. Why can't I find a guy like that around here?!

I watched it a couple of times too. I was pretty disappointed in it. It was mostly just for show in the first 2 episodes. Not really showing the dog's talent. The lady with the giant shnauzer was very annoying. In one of the segment she grabbed it by the collar and yanked it to her. I think she is very mean to that dog. You could see it was just wanting to play. It needs to be able to burn it off.

I of course liked the pointer/ border collie mix. I wish they had a full gsp on there though. I like the brittney and the boxer too. I hope in the next few shows they'll have the show more on the dogs talent and not the owners.

I think that they picked them for what the owners were like vs what their dogs could do. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

OMG she just threw them under the bus BIG TIME!!!! I know that Laurie was mad about being stuck in the doghouse but she turned on Elvis and Doc! She lost all my respect, and if the looks on the judges faces were anything to go by.. theirs as well.

Meanwhile, Doc's reaction when he left and his little "Elvis has left the building" quip was just perfect! he had a good sense of humor and good sportsmanship with that.

NOW if we can get rid of Barbie dog and the screecher (yes I know they are two different dog teams but still)

Star (the Brittany) and her owner were in attendance at the Reliant Dog Shows in Houston. Somer even got a pic of her, and while I was having Ziggy worked on by the massage therapist, Star and owner passed by, just as observers. Reality shows just make me so crazy...

LMAO Singl...

Someone got on to me the other day for knowing all the dog names and not the human ones. I see I am not the only one with this affliction.

I am hooked on this show- and it looks like everyone is on the same page with the favorites. I love the Boxer and his owner, he is so positive and you can just tell they have such a special bond! And I like the Brittney too and that sweet man! I couldn't help but cry when he was so worried about him at the vet. But I also like the little Pomeranian, he looks like a pretty smart dog and his owner seems to be too (I could do without the pink mohawk though!)
The pointer mix is super sharp but I agree, his owner is way cocky!

Carrie - I completely agree! Not only was it wrong of Laurie, but it was also a major bit of hypocrisy since she had just finished yelling at Beth Joy about doing the same thing!

I hope the screechy lady watches the show & realizes how horrifyingly similar her voice is to fingernails on chalkboards. Yikes! She just gets too screechy & overexcited, she'd do much better if she would just calm down & communicate clamly with her poor dog.

My favorites Travis & Presley (boxer) and Bill & Star (springer) did very well again this week. It just shows what you can achieve if you have a calm, respectful, loving relationship with your dog!

I also like whats his name and Galaxy.. but then again I love pointers. The Pom is owned by a professional dog trainer so of course she is doing well in the competition :D, and all things considered the screecher also has an ok relationship with her dog.. NOW if we could just find her mute button to turn off all her noise.. I can't believe after all that screaming she questioned why everyone left the room. DUH!!!

Ok my vote to leave next (not in this order) Barbie dog, Laurie, and screecher,

I like Star, Galaxy, the pom, Skateboard dog and the boxer (who is from my general area :D )

Uno GMTA!!! kids and I were discussing that last night, especially with the agility course. they wanted me to sign Wachter up...

I can see it now.... We pull up to the big house, walk through to the back yard, I unhook his leash and POOF, superdog takes off flying, greets the dogs avoids the pool, launches himself over the fence and bye bye puppy dog. IF we manage to find him and get him to perform in one of the competitions.. I get him off leash he runs to the judges and pees on their feet, YEAH I can see how we would be a great representation of the GSP abilities for the entire world NOT!!!!!

ok so they moved the show to Wed nights. I am not a big fan of Teresa's training strategies, but this time around I had to snarl at one of the judges!!! The last thing you want is to teach a dog to snarl and growl!! so the use of a snarl band is a good thing! ALTHOUGH my thought on Teresa's photo idea was poor as well. I think she should have done the destroyed couch photo that we have on here for her "angry" picture!!!

Well, Victoria has some pretty off the wall training methods on "Its Me Or The Dog" or whatever the name of the thing is...but that business with the snarl bands was just over the top...way too Animal Rightist for me. I agree, Carrie, this is not something you want to teach so why not use other means. It is supposed to be a "for fun" competition, after all.

Too bad about the Bulldog, but it was a really poor choice of pictures on his part.

I had to laugh about how oh whats her name.. with the schnauzer, boo hooing about how bad her pictures were.. and she tried to do all the red heart and flower cliche' stuff. Then at the a couple of the judges applauded her for doing the picture without them. I am just ready for her, barbie dog and Theresa to go. I have issues with how they treat their dogs. I am with you I was not so happy to see the bull dog go. I agree his picture wasn't the best BUT he and his dog are just SO cute .. and the pool issue is just a riot!!!

He was a cool dog, I obviously loved the pointer. I like the boxer too. Atleast the show is getting better. The first few were not so great and I thought it was a stupid show. Now I am watching it. I really wish there was a gsp on there! Hopefully next season!
