Hi everyone…we just wanted to let you all know that Seven suffered pretty serious injury to his back on Monday night. Rob and Seven were playing Frisbee like any other normal day, he turned to take off running after the Frisbee and went down not putting any weight on his back legs. We rushed him to the Center for Specialized Vet Care, a very good 24 hour animal hospital, where he stayed overnight receiving treatment. He made “tremendous” progress overnight, because of that the neurologist recommended prednisone and doggie bed rest as the best course of action. The current diagnosis is an extremely bad bruised spine. He is not allowed any activity for the unforeseeable future…. Fun stuff with a GSP Exclamation Here's a question fo Anyway all this means that Seven we will be taking a break from jumping for quite some time Oh so Sad

On a happier note his spirits are HIGH, and he is continuing to make daily progress. He wants to be chasing squirrels and birds, playing Frisbee, he's already starting to slowly spin to go outside Ultimate Air Elation and cuddling on the couch next to us Sleep . We are headed back to the doctor in about a week, when Seven is off his initial dose of prednisone, to see how he his is doing. We will keep you all posted.

I am so sorry, we'll be pulling for him. It's so hard to see them injured.

Deepest healing prayers for Seven Get better fast and start out slow with GSP fun activities. Maybe water therapy would be good and easier on the joints and spine  Love, Rocky

Oh man, that just STINKS.... here's prayers that he'll be all better soon.

I'd also tell you to tell Seven to take it easy, but I know better. A dog like him wouldn't listen to such foolishness. :)

I am so sorry to hear Seven is injured.  It is really scary when they are hurt, especially frisbee related injuries.  I had something similar happen to Belle with a Frisbee, but she actually ran into a tree and tore her bicep tendon.  After surgery and 5 weeks of inactivity she is fully recovered.  I would second the water therapy idea when Seven is ready as it really helped Belle get back into condition and strengthened her injury.  Good luck, but then Seven is Lucky Seven.  Keep us posted.

PS - It is possible to keep a GSP quiet for 5 weeks, but it isn't easy.  Again Good Luck!

Get well soon Seven! Sorry to hear you are hurt. Something must be in the air this year! He'll catch up and hopefully be the jumping champion again! You can call it his comeback tour! Did the vet think he may be able to do that any more?

Sorry to hear about Seven's misadventures ... having recently tried to keep Bo "quiet" after being neutered, I can empathize.

We are going back to the neurologist today...in about a half hour so I'll give everyone an update later on today. He is doing great making daily progress on his movement and control... but 3 weeks of "doggie bed-rest" makes me feel like I have a GSP puppy in my house with all the uncontrollable energy!!!! Thanks for all the good thoughts!! More to come later today ;-)

I hope he is better now? Does he have to wait a while before he can do the dock jumping again? You probably don't come to the cherry festival in Traverse City MI do you?

After 22 days of doggie bed rest Seven was given clearance, by the Neurologist, to slowly begin running and swimming as part of his rehab. Anyone that has met Seven knows that he does nothing slowly. The Neurologist feels that Seven is on his way to a full recovery sooner rather than later. With this great news we took Seven to the beach to get rid of some of the pent up energy he had. Take a look at the pictures we took. Again, Thanks for all of the well wishes and Seven will be jumping again real soon.
