We have a 4 month old puppy and were wondering when we should get her spayed. Also we can not leave her by herself. As long as our other dog is with her everything is ok. We are trying kennel training and anytime we put her in the kennel by herself she pees, poops and howls. After 2 weeks of cleaning up my wife said to put the other dog with her in the kennel, no pee poop or howling. Has any one dealt with this before?
The link below is to a fairly long article that won't give you a definitive answer to your question about spaying, but it will give you some good info to think about with regard to pros and cons.

This article is on the NAIA site. The NAIA (National Animal Interest Assoc.) is an organization whose mission is to promote the welfare of animals. They seem to be a very reasonable organization (http://www.naiaonline.org/).
I have two shorthairs. My oldest I had spayed at about 6 months (she had not yet come in season) as I did not have any intentions of breeding her. By having her spayed at that age I am hoping to reduce the risk of mammary cancer. She has not experienced any of the other problems associated with spaying at an early age and she is now almost 4 years old. My youngest I show in conformation and may someday breed her. She is just two and did not come into season until she was just a couple months shy of two. Her mother was the same way. This is a very difficult decision and I would recommend you discuss the pros and cons with your vet. If you don't have a vet you feel comfortable with, find one.
Good Luck!!

Here is another article that discusses the pros and cons of early neutering. www.caninesports.com/SpayNeuter.html
Sounds like the pup has too big of a kennel. Put a partition in there so the pup can just lay down. A dog or pup won't pee or poop where it lays. If possible make sure the pup can see the other dog you when kennel the pup. If that isn't possible try to put the kennel where the howling won't keep you up, and let the pup go nuts. It will stop eventually.
