While my water-rat Anya was recovering from her spay, I just flipped over our rubbermaid stock tank out in the yard and left it there for a few weeks. Today while we were building fence Anya weaseled out from the temporary fence twice just to piddle around in the bucket of water we were using, so after we finished for the day I flipped the tank back over to fill it up. Fortunately I had a good idea what COULD be under there, so I was a little careful... but I was still left a little queasy after being greeted by 2 HUGE FAT black widow spiders that had taken up residence under the tank.
Why couldn't it just have been a cute 4' bull snake instead?!? I'm now feeling creepy and itchy and paranoid... although I know good and well there are probably a trillion widows under the porches, under/in the outbuildings, and under the house itself. BLECH! YUCK! PUKE!
I grew up in S. California & I hate thoses things My brother was bite by one when he was about 3, spent a few nights in the Hospital. I would take the spiders over the snakes though, I REALLY HATE THOSE
