Okay-so it's my day for crazy (or maybe stupid) questions.

Today when I was waiting at the vet, the receptionist stood up and grabbed a file and said, "Here comes (dogs name)" Then a lady carrying a pit bull walked in and they immediately took her to the back.  Later, as I was leaving the same lady came out--still carrying the pit bull.  I asked if she was injured and the lady said, "no she was born with parvo virus but she's doing much better than she was last week"

Do I need to be worried?  Salley has been vaccinated (as recently as January) and this Pit Bull was carried the whole time (at least that I saw) I tried to do some research on the internet about this but didn't really come up with transmission through the air or anything like that.

My Twiggy pup also had parvo (at 9 weeks) and they are NOT born with it. My other dogs were up to date on all vaccinations and did not get parvo. Most at risk are puppies, esp. ones not fully vaccinated. If your dog is UTD on all vaccinations I wouldn't be worried (although you didn't mention an age).

They can get it by coming in direct contact with it (will stay in the ground, surfaces, objects, etc.)... it is not airborne. It can live in the environment for very long periods of time.

Ruger and a Basset that we use to have had both had their shots. At 7 months [ both] the Basset went to be spayed, when we went to pick her up we took Ruger with to get his Rabies shot. They both ended up with Parvo. I think they must have got it from the vets office. they took meds & were fine but it was scary

It runs rapid like kennel cough in shelters. Hard to kill the virus. If your dog has been routinely vaccinated, and is in good health, you probably have nothing to worry about. A vets office surely knows the dog was coming in, and moved it quickly to another area for exposure reasons, I'm sure. When I picked up my kennel cough pup last night from shelter, they kept shuffling us into this room and that one, away from other dogs. Now that is airborn....sorta like a people cold. Would not hurt to pick up the phone and ask your vet if you are covered.

Well, Salley is almost 5 years.  We've had her for over a year and she has received the DHLP-PV vaccine twice that we know of--she came from the shelter.

Guess, I can't worry too much about it. UGH--never thought about having a person/dog tracking parvo virus around the vet's office all day long.  They keep the office very clean, so I'm fairly certain they are taking some precautions.
