Barb, thanks so much for the e-mail pic of Jack yesterday! I was so excited waiting for you to get him. With Ruger, who is very spoiled too, I found it easier to take the toys away for a little bit. Most of the time now he is fine but if I bring home a bone for everyone Ruger will just lay by his & dare anyone to take it. Ruger, like Tory just have to work out that Tory is the boss & the head dog thing ! As long has they don't get into a really big fight, just let him tell the pup were his place is, & Tory says " YOU"RE NOT the top dog like me" It will work out. Tucker was 10 when we got him [ 13 now ] & Ruger never has liked him but they have learned to just ignore each other Can't wait to meet all of you, hopfully this summer!

Thanks Alice, that makes a lot of sense.
Tory is the "top-dog".
We will definately meet this summer. If not here then up there. I love to fish and the lake we have our cabin on doesn't seem to have any.
HAPPY EASTER ALL

| What a cute puppy----definitely worth waiting for. That snow picture would be neat to have blown up into a portrait size. |

As the day went on the boys got along much better. Tory would even bring a toy over to Jack to play with . Here are a few pictures from today.
Morning nap, he even put himself in the crate. I am so proud.

Someone wanted to see him in an Easter Basket

Tory watching over Jack

Tory bringing a toy to share

Must have been after the bite (see Hogan's GSB topic) he just looked too innocent

Hope everyone had a Hoppy Easter. Speaking of hopping, that is how Jack looks when he runs. |

| Congratulations!! So glad first meetings of Tory and Jack went well. Jack looks so cute and enjoy his infant puppy days as they go sooo fast. It is so hard to remember our Adult GSP's that small and adorable. Did your nesting reflex pay off??? That was so exciting reading about the preparation before the pup arrival. |

Of course I think Jack is the smartest puppy, but I can't believe this. He watches TV. I noitced him looking at the tv a few times and going up to it. He was just pouncing around at two dogs on animal planet and letting out little barks at them, way too cute. My husband just called from work and says I should find a hunting channel to turn on. |

Barb -
Congrats on the new pup, Jackson is adorable. I think you are doing fine with the introductions, I would just keep giving Tory lots of love and give it some time. They are still new to each other and have to get to know each other. Just remember everyone will naturally go to the puppy so make sure Tory doesn't get left out. Also, I play a game with my girls and the toys. I always buy one for each, but they both always want the same toy. So, I pick the toys up and tell them they are mine and I play with them. When they come over to me to play, then I give them the toy they can play with and they take it. Seems to solve the problem for me. Now this doesn't always last very long and I have to repeat when they go to get toys again, but it does defuse the immediate situation. I don't know how this would work with a puppy though and that is what you are facing. Tory isn't ready to share his stuff yet. So, I really do think time, patience and love will work. GSPs are so smart and they really enjoy other GSP's company. Once Tory knows you still love him even though you have a new puppy, it should get better.
Just be sure to keep an eye on them right now in the getting to know each other phase.
Good Luck,
Bev |

He's adorable.
How did the night go?
Francine
I've been very lucky with Jack so far. He has slept through the night two nights in a row now. We've got the potty thing down pretty well. Tory is getting better with him, he still wants me to pet him anytime I'm paying attention to Jack. So far so good. I have to run into the office for a few hours now. I'm not happy about that at all . |

| Congrats on finally getting him home. Just keep loving up your other baby letting them know that they are both loved and it should go fine. |

Today we went to the vet and to dad's office to visit with the girls there. Jack is 11 pounds and is in very good health . Jack and Tory are getting along so well now, they played for a few hours and both were tired enough to give me a break. My friend and her hubby stopped by to check out the new baby and of course he slept right through the visit. (anyone with kids know about this)
I was shown by the vet how to trim the nails and did end up doing on paw when we got home, whew I did it. I'm not sure this is something I will continue with. There are professionals and I wouldn't want to put someone out of work, right?
Jack loves watching animal planet and will try to interact with the dogs he meets on the shows.
Could've been a coinsidence , but Jack went to the door today and when we went out he did go potty.
Tory taught Jack to jump over one of the baracades in the living room today, that was fun for them and they are bonding after all.
OK here is what you're really looking for:
They are playing nice, really

Funny the bone is almost as big as he is

Who me???

Yes that is carpet in the kitchen our house is a work in progress. My bathroom is almost finished, it's only been a year and 1/2.
I hope to post more tomorrow. |
