I was going to wait until I actually had him home, but I just couldn't. Here are pictures on my new guy, Jackson. 6 more days and counting. If the breeder will e-mail me some new pictures, like she keeps promising,  I will post more.

I am going bonkers waiting. I've been cleaning, shampooing the carpets, even tore the carpet out of one of the bedrooms yesterday, my husband is going to think I've lost my mind when he and Tory get home today. They were spending time at the cabin and went hunting for Tory's 3rd B-day.

I'm lovin' it.

But, why are you cleaning? Don't you know he's going to "go" on everything anyway?
I like a product called Nature's Miracle for cleaning.

I think she's cleaning to make sure there is no urine scent from a former dog...good idea!

Jeannene your pup is really cute too. Francine, Diamond is right. I am cleaning just to be safe, you never know with Hailey (my shitzu) there are bad days for her and then my daughter's puppy that comes each Monday. Either that or I'm going through the "nesting phase".
Also to prepare for the new puppy, I've been having Tory "play nice" with a stuffed GSP. He usually rips them to shreds, but he is being good with this one. I would like Jackson to have stuffed toys if he wants them without Tory ripping them apart. Here's a pciture of him being good.

And here is a new picture of Jackson, the breeder took it on Friday. I can not believe how big he's gotten in just 2 weeks.

Does Jackson have blue eyes or does it just look like it in the photo? I knew there was something striking! What a cutie.

His eyes are blue right now, yes. I have seen puppies with blue eyes that turn brown when they get older though. It would be neat if they stayed blue. Actually one photo they looked almost purple. I can't tell you all how excited I am. The next 5 days are just going to drag on.

Ok does anyone have advice on introducing Tory and Jackson? I really had this little fantasy in my head that I'd just bring Jackson home and they would be best friends right of the bat. Ummm maybe not so much. One thing I read last night is to have them meet each other in a neutral place. Glad I found that bit of advice. Of course now I'm freeking out a bit. Will they get along?
I have Jackson's crate with some new toys in it with the door shut on my side of the bed (Tory's is on Brad's side) anyway, the last 2 days Tory just goes into the bedroom and stares at the crate, every once in a while he'll let out a little whine.

Just make sure you love Tory up at the same time. You may want to watch that the puppy isn't trying totake Tory's toys.

Bedberg when I brought a new puppy home I just brought her in and acted like she had always been there. I didn't make a big deal about it. Everyone checked each other out and that was that. The big problem came when everyone wanted to sleep on the same pillow. :D

I agree with Caly.

Tory will pick up on your stress if you are worried and that won't help...just try to keep it as normal and relaxed as possible...I wouldn't just sit and stare just to see what Tory does. Keep things upbeat but not as to get either dog "excited". Maybe try to have the pup and Tory meet outside the house first and then lead them both inside after a little while, Tory will feel better about meeting the pup if he knows that he can get away from it if he needs to too.

I introduced Belle and Halo in our fenced backyard.  Belle was a year and a half and Halo was eight weeks.  Not a totally neutral site, but more neutral than the house and controlled.  It was warm and sunny with no toys in the area.  My husband helped.  Neither of us was concerned as Belle was really looking for a pal and she is pretty laid back, but still you never know.  We had absolutely no problems.  Belle even went and found a toy and brought it back for Halo it was really cute.  Here is a picture we took with Belle giving Halo the toy.

Just relax, and give the dogs supervised space.  Older dogs usually do well with puppies.  They know they are just babies.  Belle gave Halo lots of rope until she was about a year, then she corrected her exuberance and we have had peace since.  (Belle is alpha.) We plan on using the same approach when we get our new boy in late July only this time we will be introducing Belle and Halo to the new pup.  Let us know how it goes.

Texas Belle, that is such a cute picture! Kerney was 16 months old when Bailey came to live with us. Bailey was 10 weeks old. Kerney loves it b/c she has something more her size to play with. Although Bailey is bigger than her now. I thought Kerney would be the alpha but turns out Bailey is top dog. I think you will do fine with the new puppy and I'm sure Tory will be glad to have Jackson to play with. :)
